That isn't a good idea. Two problems, one minor and one major. Minor- smoke and carbon build up unnderside (black residue) over time. Major- exhaust gases may enter cabin from there while idling.

well nothing gets really hot under there and after 2.5 weeks with it like that and after long drives getting under there and melling and checking for heat on the spare, everything has been fine, but i have seen ppl run it just like that and cut up a little farther, and gas costs too much for me to EVER idle haha, and mpg is bad so i never idle

personally they look bad out the side unless you weld a stainless tip and i really dont care for a side exit, in fact i like the hidden look better. i might cut it 6-7 inches up from where it is now so it drops straight down, will see

well i have already cut it off before the resonator, i have left it like that for now. dont know if i wanna turn it out or not cause i think im going to take off the mud flaps and it would just get stained brown

what if you had the pipe come out to the side and then turn down. may look funny but wouldn't eliminate the smell all together?

it really does... i love it. thanks!

heres the low down....

when you crank it up it gives a nice roar but idles pretty quietly. then as you start going it will revv up and will really give you tone at 2000 plus rpms. on the highway doing a nice 65mph it didnt really drone at all unless i got on the throttle. with windows up, interior noise is nice and loud when pouring the coal to it hahaha i like it, some ppl may not. i actually wouldnt mind if it was louder but its pretty awesome.

What about just cutting the pipe at the bend before the resonator so that it just points straight down to the ground? Would that help with the exhaust smell inside or possible heat exposure to the spare and other undercarriage parts?

what are peoples thoughts on doing 3" pipe out the side? i would have a shop do it from the flange back

i did that with mine a couple years ago and haven't noticed anything negative. Sounds a LITTLE bit better, with just a touch more growl I think, but not loud or anything. Cheap, easy, and effective. Also, no way to scrape/bend/break it off road either.
