Honda's recalls also started in 2008. They, and other manufacturers, also get/got priority because their cars had defective driver's airbags, where Toyota's recalls are limited to passenger side only (meaning the Toyotas can be operated safely, albeit without a front passenger, while recalled Hondas can't be driven safely).
Honda wasn't telling customers to wait 10 years because of parts availability while they were SELLING NEW MODELS WITH FIXED AIRBAGS that could be installed to fix existing customer vehicles.
