Takin' my 4th Gen to Germany

I'll be heading to Germany for Uncle Sam this summer and bringing my '07 with me. I'll figure out the license and driving thing. Is there anything I should make sure I do to it here before I ship it or are there certain things I should make sure I get for it over there? That may include parts (since the closest thing the'll have are Prado's and those will probably be diesel) or accessories (like get an AO roof rack there vs. get a Gobi here). You know, things like that. Also, are there any places I should make sure to road trip to?

I lived in Czech Republic for a while and although I never drove while I was there I recall people mentioning the indicator lights had different meanings and they had to make the necessary changes to their US vehicles. I don't know if it's a European thing or not but might be worth looking in to before you go. Making the changes and/or buying the parts here will probably be cheaper.

In parts of Europe you need to put a yellow tint on the headlights - you can buy stuff to paint on and clean it off later with alcohol. Not sure if that applies in Germany - you might be able to switch bulbs instead which would be cleaner but more pricey.

Oh - and if you have any kind of bull-bar on now you may need to take it off - they are pretty strict on them in Europe.

Do you really wanna bring the 4runner? Fuel is very expensive there an a big gas guzzler might not be the best choice to bring.

Yeah, I've thought a lot about this, but I purchased the 4Rnr because it made the most sence for my family, not because it made the most sence for Germany. I plan on buying a European station wagon when I get there but want the 4Rnr for the long term. I'm going to bring it back after the 3yrs are up. Also, the military helps out with coupons for gas within Germany to offset the price difference between there and the States. It's big, I know, but not as big as some that service members bring over. They do sell the V6 Land Cruisers (aka Prados) there so I won't be THAT outlandish in size, I think (I hope).
