talked to Bilstein today...new 5100 shock info

Planning to change my OME setup to the tundra lift. pretty sweet to have a 4runner dedicated shock for the tundra lift! Im not sure where to start but do i just buy the front set of the shocks and Tundra TRD springs using the stock top hats?

I tried the 4th gen shocks with my 890s and they were too long. By the time I got them mounted, they had maybe an inch or 2 of travel left. Had to send them back and continue to use my Tundra 5100s. I think the shocks would be perfect for a 4+ " lift.

Apples and oranges there; 4th gen shocks are part number 24-239370 front and 33-187174 rear. We're talking about 3rd gen 4runner Bilstein 5100 shocks here: 24-248730 front and 24-249966 rear, which are again different than both the Tacoma and Tundra shocks.

Oh, gotcha. Good to know they don't work with the 890's.

Just an O-pinion, but of all the emulsion shocks out there I believe the 5100's are the best value. If you want to step up then go to a Fox/King/SAW remote with custom or remote valving, but stay away from the generic white can shocks (Rancho, Pro-Comp, Doetsch, etc.), and that includes OME.

I do offer all of the ARB / OME line. Unfortunately until I get moved into my new 3000 sq/ft shop I am not offering any services. Probably 6-8 weeks before we do.

It might be operator error, but I can't seem to locate the OME coils on the website. Should I call to place an order over the phone? Can I work with you directly to build an order? Also, what isolators and top hats do you recommend? I'd rather pay for new bits and take them to my local shop for pre-assembly than rent a spring compressor to save $30 on the top hats. Probably need new soft bits anyway. The 5100's come with new cushions, correct?

I am currently running Tundra 5100's and I find them to be a little stiff, on my last 4Runner I had an older Part # Tundra 5100's and they were super plush night and day difference.

Let me clear that up - I said go with the 24-249966 for 0-2ish, if you use the 4th/5th gen rears you need bumpstop drops. Only for the LT rear springs really.

That is entirely accurate. We normally do not suggest putting twin-tube shocks on a truck like the 4runner. Avoid Rancho, Cheaper procomp (the new procomp are monotube and a copy of the 5100), Ironman, etc.

I'm very interested in the above package as well,
and wishing to level the 1.25 inch lift to the 2 inch rear lift of the 906.

We finally came out with a few more 6112 Kits including the one for your truck. We are also releasing a revised 4^th & 5^th gen 4Runner which has staggered snap ring grooves, plus we are releasing a 3^rd gen 4 Runner 6112 kit.

There should be a 5160 with a 0-2" range, along with the current 5100 offered from Bilstein that is good for 0-2" rear lift. You can also use the 5160 or 5100 off the 03+ 4runner for 3-4" of rear lift with 2" bumpstop drops.
