Tall and Skinny Tires

It seems as if I have the unpopular opinion on here when it comes to tires. I personally love the look and performance of tall and skinny tires. I'm talking 33x10, 34x10.5, etc.

Let's see some pics!

You're not alone! Unless ur in sand or bottomless mud, where u need the max flotation, skinny tires are the way to go as they offer greater contact pressure, which is what u want for rockcrawling.

I am starting to agree with you on this. I do mountain trails and the woods. Not exactly a mud feat or sand dune.

Does anyone make a 33x10x17 equivalent?

BFG has a 305/70R17 I believe or something close. I'm running the 33/10.50s on a 15x6" rim.

BFG makes a 255/80/R17 Which is a 33.1x10.04x17

narrow & skinny works for what i do. i've worn out several sets. started with some 31x10.5 radials, then went to 33x10.5 radials, switched to 34x10.5 bias, and now have 34x9 bias. on my cj.

my 4r has 30x9.5 radials. i'd like an even narrower tire.

I've really been wanting to find a solid to aggressive AT tire that would be in the 255/75/16 range. If I could fit a 80 on there without rubbing I'd even go with that, but I'm only running the Highlander springs, so I think the 75 will be my max.

I have had a few trail rigs in the family, and thinner is definitely better on everything but sand and bottomless mud. Oklahoma clay will often be like Hawaiian Ice on the top layer, but with a solid base about 1' down, and fat tires just float and cake up while thin will slice through and get to the solid base. I much prefer thinner.

Was up at a bonfire last weekend and a fellow 3rd gen was up there. checked and had 305/70/16, he called my 285's pizza cutters. He needs to check this thread out. I love taller over wider. any day.

235/85R16 is about 32x9. I've been thinking about getting them for my tow rig when the 245/75R16s wear out.

narrower, but taller, so they won't fit without mods. i'm fine with the 30s, and have zero interest in altering the suspension or cutting fenders.
