Tell me this has happened to y'all too!?

Mine is more of a near miss. Went grocery shopping last summer and picked up a gallon of milk (among other things). Put the groceries in the back seat, as I cannot open the rear hatch when parked in my garage. The next day I went to get a glass of milk and noted that the gallon of milk I bought was not in the fridge. Sure enough, I had not brought the groceries in and a spoiled gallon of milk was sitting in the back of the 4Runner. I call it a near miss, as nothing spilled and no smells.

Just want to say this is an awesome thread. No spills in mine yet, but every drink pass to the back seat makes me clench.

Nothing in the 4Runner yet, but with my old FJC I was coming back from a camping trip. Had some left over meat in the cooler. Bag must have been open. Bloody meat juice mixed with the melting ice water and wouldn’t you know....cooler then leaked all over the cloth back seats.

Next day I bought an ARB fridge. Been 5+ years. I will never cooler again.

In all my cars I keep a large plastic cup in one of the holders to use as a trash bin. It saved the day once, discovered it makes for a great barf bucket as well and a disaster was avoided.

Funny thing, I read movesfast and northcoast posts to my wife and a roll of TP is now in the T4R

Ca 1972. Milk still purchased in 1/2 gallon glass bottles. No such thing a kid restraints. No such thing as Weathertech. Two rowdy boys break not one but two 1/2 gallons of milk in the rear seat floor of my previously-nice Ford station wagon.

I sold them the next day for scientific experiments.

Funny thing is me and Pat still turned out just fine. Right Dad?

I had something similar happen! Except it was a dog barfing down the side of the rear seat. Had to wet vac the carpet, pull the door panel, plastic door sill cover, and some of the carpet for a thorough cleaning.

At least the softex was easy to clean :P

Ugh. dog barf is the worst ... I'll sympathy puke every time. Urp.

So not in the 4Runner but a story similar to movefast occurred in my back seat on the way home from a long weekend, only it was my dog. she is a great car rider and we walked her before we left, it was only a two hour drive. we were about 90 minutes in when she started shifting and squirming in the back, odd behavior for an animal that has basically two inclinations in the backseat, look out the window, or sleep. she basically "peed" brown juice out her butt, the look on her face indicated she was as surprised and upset as we were. we cleaned it up a bit on the side of the road (I-93) and again when we got home. Even had the car detailed. a few months later we sold it.

Brand new sr5. Had perforated katskin leather put in before I took possession.
Immediately took a road trip by myself. Headed to the high dessert to go poke around. Had a little burble going on in my stomach. Wasn’t sure what that was about. But overall felt fine. I figured I wait until the next town and use the restroom, get something to drink and all will be well.

I was wrong.

The burbling got louder. And started descending. It was hard to ignore. By now I was in town desperately looking for a place to stop in an unfamiliar scene. Locating a larger grocery story, I circled, looking for a damn entrance! That’s when it hit. An explosion of sounds and smells that no man should ever have to deal with. Out it came in a river of violence. Cascading through my shorts and all over a brand new 4Runner.

I shit myself. And there was nothing I could do.
After the violence I did everything I could to clean it up. You can’t tell to this day. But I have thought seriously about trading it in on a new one. Concerned how it goes this summer when it gets hot out

Before my wife was my wife she got sick and I took her to the hospital in my 88 Toyota 4x4 truck. She had the same thing happen.

We cleaned her and the mess up.

Never ever knew after that. No stain, no smell, nothing.

Your rig will be fine.

But here is the secret, before I even met my wife, my buddy's girl puked in the rear seat of my Honda Prelude. I used lemon flavored sparkling water to get that out. Again, no stain, no smell, nothing.

And not to One Up everyone but my lastest fiasco in my brand new TRDORP - we went wheeling last weekend and we ALL got dust/dirt from the ground on my Husky floor mats. Had to use a damp rag to wipe it up. Oh the horrors.

This happened a few years back in my Isuzu Trooper, precursor to my 4runner. Wife takes the vehicle over the weekend for grocery shopping. I take it to work on Monday, no issues, its my daily driver. Tuesday on the ride home, I notice a bit of a smell, but it doesn't really register. Wednesday, I notice it more and keep the windows down, thinking it just needs to air out. By Thursday, after work, OMG what is this, smells like something died?? I search the vehicle when I get home, and yep, a package of chicken had found its way under the rear seat. Wife says, "I was wondering where that went"...

Haha!

This isn't 4R related but your story reminded me of a story... I used to work part time EMS, overnight shift a few days a week. On my way in to work I would get Chipotle for me and my partner and we'd eat right as we came on shift, then have 12 hours of work / sleep, and get off in the morning. I almost always rode my motorcycle in.

Chipotle has a way of working its way through my system, often explosively, in almost exactly 12 hours. Most days when I was getting off, I started feeling the gurgling on my way home and I'd arrive home and dookie like a grown up, no problems.

One day, we had a late call and on that call I was already feeling the gurgling. After getting back to the station, I made a command decision to go ahead and head home, because who wouldn't rather shit in their own bathroom than at the station? I was confident that I had the anal toning to make it.

I start riding home on the the motorcycle and I got about three miles when the gurgling got worse. Way worse. Like a fool, I still thought I could make it, so I didn't turn around and go back. A few miles later, worse still. I stood up while riding because I could clench my ass cheeks together better that way, and I rode the next 15 miles standing up, clenching. By the time I was getting close to the house I was spasming from the clenching required to keep the Carnitas on the clean side of my shorts. I successfully navigated several stop signs and red lights without having to sit down, and I thought there was a chance I could make it...

I pulled in my driveway, and for the first time, I had to move from my standing position to avoid toppling over as I came to a complete stop. Doing that meant I had to swing one leg down to contact the ground... and as I did my sphincter gave up the ghost and I shit myself massively. It was reminiscent of the Dumb and Dumber scene with Jeff Bridges, actually. Sweet relief, yet utter disgust. And I was so close, too...

Maybe we can be poop pals.

Horrible circumstances, yet masterfully written. Bravo~

Yup!

My Beagle ate an entire bowl of Xmas Hershey Kisses years ago and puked up that Chocolate, red, silver, green foil and little "Hershey banners" from one end of my Chevy S10 to the other all the way to the Vet.

He survived, but not my carpet. The Chocolate Puke Smell NEVER went away. I had to toss the carpet and I bought the vinyl flooring to put in there...

Gross as hell.

This thread is the funniest thing I've read in a while!

So far the closest thing to a disaster I've had in my 4Runner was about a year and half ago. My brother, who is disabled, had to give up his cat, so I took it to the Humane Society where it had come from. Soon as the 4R started moving, the cat spewed Friskies latte all over the carrier. Thankfully none spilled out, but the smell was horrendous. So I get there, and they tell me they won't take the cat back without an appointment! I had to drive it back to my brother's apartment, reeking all the way.

And of course, when we made the appointment, I had to do it over again, and again the cat did its thing. I told them to keep the carrier.

My own personal rectal disaster wasn't in the 4Runner, but in bed. Three years ago, came down with the worst stomach flu I'd ever had. Started puking before I'd gone to bed. Woke up in the night feeling a VERY urgent rumbling in the nether regions, but was so sick I passed out when I tried to get up. Came to a few minutes later in a steaming brown puddle that was streaming down the bed and onto the carpet. Spent the rest of the night on the floor of the shower.
