A couple of noob questions I hope you guys can help with. I've looked at FJ's for the last few years but have decided it's probably not the right vehicle for me. So I've been looking at the new 4Runners and today drove a 4R SR5, TE w/KDSS and LTD.

I found the SR5 to have a lot of body roll and dive. The TE felt very firm/sporty, with no dive and very little roll. And the LTD was somewhere in between. Hands down I liked the TE ride the best.

Ideally a TE with leather, kdss and full-time Torsen 4wd w/out crawl control would be what I'd order if possible... or I guess that would be a LTD with KDSS and w/out nav.

Questions:
What type of suspension system does the LTD have...
The TE seems to sit higher than the LTD with more clearance, definitely a better angle of approach.
What would have to be done to get the same clearance out of a LTD. I do a lot of desert driving and the 17" wheels would be better, switching out the 20's would decrease clearance even more?
Due to cost and drive-ability issues I'm not fond of lifts, solution?

Differences between 2011 and 2012? Was hoping for plain old white but the dealer said all the colors are going to be the same.

What would have to be done to get the same clearance out of a LTD. I do a lot of desert driving and the 17" wheels would be better, switching out the 20's would decrease clearance even more? 17s would not decrease the height unless you got a tire with a different diameter

Sounds like you want Gary's, Harper7, runner, a limited that he has decked and I mean decked out with TE body kit and numerous other mods
