Just out of curiosity, what has everyone raced and actually beat? I know everyone says it's still a 4runner but I would like to know if you could beat some cars in a straight up race say from a red-light up to 60ish would a supercharged lifted with 33s 4runner be able to beat a 2005 scion tc? My buddy has one and I'm curious also what about a dodge cummins , if I were to get a supercharger and 7th injector I would want to be sure that I would be able to beat them if they ever wanted to try and race .

I'll pull the belt off this evening to check the pulley to confirm suspected bearing and order accordingly.

Dynamic Tensioner

Well, got home and popped the belt off and the pulley feels nice and smooth. Tension on the spring felt good as well. Truck was warmed up so no sound either. The only thing I noticed is the dynamic tensioner moving a bit while the truck was sitting there idling. It's been about 7 years since I installed the blower and don't recall if that's normal for it to look like it's vibrating a bit or if it sits totally still at idle.

You guys with the 2nd gen black blowers. Do your dynamic tensioners move back and forth at idle, say like 1/4 inch either way? I looked on youtube for vids of these things idling and didn't find any easy to see the tensioner.

I can't say for certainty if it's supposed to, but yes mine does. Not a whole lot but if you're staring at it at idle it does move.

P.S. you did replace the belt too, right? I might have missed that in your posts. Belts stretch over time (hence the cracks) and slowly lose tension and can cause issues too.

Mine does as well, I wouldn't worry about it too much unless it gets excessive.

Thanks for the sanity check. I won't worry about it for now then.

Nothing was replaced. Belt and tensioner have about 40K miles on them. Tensioner looked to be pretty close to center on the range so I think it's good. Just being paranoid with a 12 year old truck.

Question for you guys and I'm probable just being lazy on this. On the supercharger I bought from the east coast (knew better) the finish is a lot more beat than I originally thought. I started to clean it up last night and the paint/powder coat just started flaking off and there's white crusty stuff under the finish. Is that just oxidation? What type of metal is the supercharger, aluminum? Any recommendations for cleaning it or recommendations for paint? I'll post a photo of it's current state tomorrow.

I believe its made out of aluminum. Don't quote me on that though. I would just scuff it up and rattle can on it. You only see it when the hood is up so who cares what it looks like.

I think i may have a used one that came with mines but i opted for a new one.
so its unknown miles, unknown condition, unknown everything.
overall looked fine and probably will work though.

i still vote to get a new one,

OK, question: my neighbors 99 3rd gen supercharged. He just got it 2 weeks ago. Just over the last few days we noticed that when on the highway we will punch it and it goes. But it doesn't make as much power as it should and the check engine light will begin to flash, once he goes back down away from 4grand on the RPM it returns to normal and check engine light shuts off. We have a code reader but it says there are no stored codes. Any ideas??

flashing means its misfiring.
but if it doesn't stay solid afterwards then its not storing it.

Well at least not my old one, there is rumor a new version came out that does but unless your truck is one of the newer, i think 00 and up or 01 and up where the OBD2 can read your wideband o2s then yes possibly.

It's my understanding that Ultragauge doesn't allow for adding custom PIDs, so no.

That would assume you have a California emissions rig that has the Air Fuel Ratio sensor (wideband), right? It would be able to tell you AFR if you had the traditional narrowband.

Much more accurate and faster read outs. Otherwise it sorta defeats the purpose of having one.

my original ultragauge works fine for MPGs and temps, but seems to slow to do what my wideband does.

'99 & '00 have the AFR sensor if it had California emissions. All '01 & '02 have the AFR sensor. My '99 has the Cali emissions, and I can convert the voltage output reading of the front sensor reading to an AFR.
