The 3.4L TRD Supercharger Thread

I have a question about these meth kits. Forgive me if this has been answered already (its hard to keep up with all of the stuff I'm reading about the SC). How often do you have to refill the reservoir? If you have a gallon tank, how many miles does it last. Obviously I am sure it depends on how heavy your foot is, just looking for a ballpark figure.

There are several factors to consider. Nozzle size and as you mentioned how heavey your coot is. Also depends on at whT PSI you set your pump to come on. I believe Devilsown kits allow the lowest setting at 2psi and other brands allow you to set it at 1psi.
There are also progressive kits that start off pumping at a lower rate and goes up as yout boost increases.

Just realized that my dealer installed 1st gen supercharger doesn't have a check valve between the intake and the IAC. I know it comes in the kit for the 2nd gen chargers. is it possible that early units didn't have one or was mine just never installed. without it I would think that it is bleeding off boost and recirculating it through the IAC valve. Just curious what you guys have. Thanks

gently used URD 7th injector is now a part of my lift where as $580 is now apart of someone else life.




ps what gas millage are you guys getting? im down to about 12 mpg, thats about all highway. with warm ups in the morning.

12? Uhh... that's not normal. I get 17-18 with 80% highway driving. You've either got some vacuum leaks that need to be addressed or your O2/MAF sensors are giving bad readings. The supercharger isn't going to give you a MPG boost because you can't keep your foot off the pedal once you've got it on!

yeah i was around 14 to start. i replaced my o2 sensor pre cat exactly a year ago because it was throwing codes.

im sure the tube bumper, light up top, 3" lift and body lift dont exactly help all that much anyways. but still 12 mpg sucks! im getting about 170 miles to a tank (13-14 gal fill ups) numbers dont lie.

EDIT: i checked this fill up last night. i did pretty good. 200 miles 13.7 gal fill up. thats right around 14.5 miles/gal.

Yeah having a lift increases air drag, but still seems a bit drastic. That sucks though. I'm sure if you really worked at it your could increase it though. I got my Pickup up from 13 MPG when I got it up to 19 MPG. Just takes patience and attention to detail. Working on doing the same on my 4Runner but haven't been able to drive it much due to a suspension refresh.

Since installing my SC, I have gained 1mpg from 13 to 14. But i have not been stepping on the gas untill i install my meth kit this weekend.

Are you able to monitor your AFR? Maybe you are running too rich.

no i dont have a way to do it yet. i plan on buying one soon. money boys, money.

yeah winter time driving, warming the truck up, brand new spark plugs and wires, fuel filter, timing belt water pump. everything. my wide DD the truck about 70 miles a day UGH! and she lets it warm up for probably 5-10 min everyday (i know this is a huge loss to mpg) and it kills me knowing that many miles are going on the truck. but really what ever makes her happy.

Dang. Ever considered getting a little commuter car that gets better gas mileage? Even with gas prices dropping that's a lot of gas you're having to buy. My wife's old Corolla (R.I.P.) was a 2006 and was dirt cheap even new, got 29 MPG. They are reliable little cars except when blindsided at 50 MPH by an SUV who like running red lights. Dunno if snow is a problem for ya though.

My next stop for MPG's in installing a new cat-back exhaust. That was probably the single greatest gain I did for the 3VZ-E engine, hoping to have similar results on a forced induction engine.

I set it up to begin pumping at 2PSI. I am running a 3gpm nozzle so I will see if that is going to be large enough! I also installed a green LED to let me know when the unit is pumping and a red LED to let me know when I am low on water/meth.

Keep us posted! I am thinking of that exact same setup, but maybe a larger nozzle. Not sure though.

Are you running any other fuel mods? I was debating between a meth kit and 7th injector. Couldn't decide. Saw a screaming seal for a 7th injector for $500 so I decided to pick it up. Meth kit may be done shortly after as well.

Well that will be kinda tricky. I do have an AFR wideband gauge installed so I will keep an eye on the gauge while in boost. I am hoping it will show a richer number during boost with the meth pumping. I may have to increase the nozzle size or adjust when the pump kicks on.

If this does not help, I will have no choice but to go with a 7th injector or even a URD fuel/timing calibrator. I just can't see dropping $1000 on the 7th kit!!

Currently I only plan on running the meth kit. I am hoping this will give me another pound of boost and richen the afr.

EDIT: i checked this fill up last night. i did pretty good. 200 miles 13.7 gal fill up. thats right around 14.5 miles/gal.

I have plate bumpers full skids, bigger tire, and 300+ in the rear at all times and I still get 18 on the highway...
