The 3.4L TRD Supercharger Thread

I bought a used supercharger and 7th injector a year ago. It also came with a trd boost gauge. It would read 6-7psi wot. I installed a 2.2 pulley a few months later and would read 8-9psi wot. I had issues getting my computer to connect with the aic. I finally got it to and recorded my urd map and the boost never gets above 5.5 wot on the map. All while the boost guage reads 9psi. I know boost gauges can lie but i see pics of other peoples maps and they are at 8 or 9 psi with the same setup as me. I'm phoenix az 1000-1200 ft and the nighttime temp was mid 80s. Is this an issue? I know i would like more boost then 5.5 with my setup.

im in the same boat. but im at 4,400 ft. When your truck is turned off. what does the blue rectangle go to psi wise? mine is like 4 ish vac.

im also having problems with my injector spraying so many problems with this system! ive had it for over a year and its only worked properly for 2 weeks.

Nice, saves me 500-600, still need the 7th Injector also from what I was reading. Checked URD's website and they aren't listing it for the 2000 4Runner.

You could go with 2jzge/gte injectors and run a aem fic with the money you saved. IMO better than running the 7th injector. You're able to datalog what your ecu is reading and adjust accordingly.

I've been thinking about it. I want to get my fuel figured out before I put the Trd headers on. Ugh. So many fun things piling up

Ok friends, I still need help on an old issue. I really, REALLY cannot get this stupid pulley bolt off. I need to replace the nose seal but it won't budge! The problem is, even with the belt tension I can't get any torque on that bolt. It moves every time I try.

I need experience from those who have changed their pulley on how to do this. I don't have a welder so rigging up a custom tool is not an option. Even with having someone put a belt ONLY on the supercharger pulley and adding tension it just slips before cracking loose. I'm at the end of all my tricks I know.

1/2" impact gun. Pancake compressor will allow enough PSI for the 4 seconds it will take to remove it.
If you don't want to acquire a compressor and impact, then a chain wrench and a piece of an old belt (to not damage the pulley) should work as well.

Good luck

I need to bite the bullet and just get one I guess. I did recently buy a compressor for other work but a rachet/impact gun hasn't happened yet. I will give it a try.

Got the fuel figured out. I think. Need to test it some more. I had a wire not connected. (Looking at wrong wording diagram). FML.

Now headers need to be installed.

welp change of plans did not fix my problem. ran good for a pass down the highway, but after a few days and then today i did some more pulls. it looks like the truck is pulling the fuel that the injector is putting in.

I say this because i pulled my ECU fuse to reset the fuel trims. made another pull and i was seeing 12.5 (not exactly what i want but better.) then made 4 more pulls and the AFR started going back to what it was before in the 13s range.

Guys! im getting sick and tired of the 7th injector not working right. I could use Texas_Ace help on this subject.

hate to say it but, you know that Texas Ace pulled his 7th injector and went water meth. but that being said I seem to recall that A.Wilson013 has his 7th injector working really well. Maybe he can give some help. But I've read a fair amount that the Toyota computer is always going to try and fight against the 7th injector software. I know that mine is running super rich and haven't had time to download the software and try to fix it. If I had realized that there was another way to really deal with fuel management I would have gone water meth from the beginning half the price and none of the hassel. Just have to fill the jug on a regular basis.

And then he sold his 4Runner. Yup, it's gone.

Good luck with the headers!

Also, that STUPID NUT IS STILL ON THE PULLEY! Time to return the impact wrench for a heavy duty one. This is getting silly. Heat & penetrant did NOTHING!

That sucks. I know some model years dont work as well with the 7th injector. Do you have the o2 calibratior or something like that in addition to your 7th? I think the unit costs $200.

My 7th seems to work good with my rig. I just installed the 170 degree thermostat and that has taken away some of my ping. Not all but some of it.

91 octane and the ECT button worked wonders for me. I literally have almost 0 ping now. The ECT keeps it from chugging in low RPM's up hills since I only had the low RPM ping.

no i do not have the o2 calibrator, not sure if it will work with mine because on 2000 its an afr sensor.

i dont have any ping unless im in super low rpm and heavy throttle just of the verge of the trans kickdown. but i have to try to initiate the ping.

i want this fixed because the highways out here are 80 mph and running that fast makes the intake temps rise quite a bit while going up a small hill (193 up to 205 at times,) in the heat of the summer they have been up to 215 before i turn on the heaters in the cab and drop the windows to try and dissipate some of the heat (using the heater core as a radiator)

I may end up selling this and going with a meth kit or MTD set up with larger injectors.

In the end, i just wish it would work properly, the way its designed to.

That's not completely accurate. Your 4Runner may have AFR if it is a Cali Spec.

If you can plug your rear o2 sensor in to the front, or the pugs are the same, it is o2 not AFR. This comes from Gadget.

I thought the same thing, after reading MTD's FIC thread and the URD AFR Calibrator's page. I went ahead and ordered the AFR, and after speaking with Gadget, swapped it out for an o2. Toyota "started" using the AFR sensor in 2000. That doesn't mean all cars had them.

I'm currently running the AEM meth kit and 2.1 pulley. I haven't had a chance to install the URD o2 calibrator yet.

How do you like the AEM kit? I was looking at it the other day. Do you run any sort of ECU management system or just the AEM meth kit alone?

I really like the AEM kit. I did change out the nozzle, check valve, and holder to Devils own, due to the lack of sizes with the AEM. I'm currently running a 3 GPH nozzle and virtually have no ping. Just a tad in high/low situations. Wish it had the ability to spray prior to boost. The only problem I'm experiencing with the meth, is short term fuel trim. After long pulls, or using the meth a lot, the ECU tries to learn too much and pull fuel to account for the meth. Hence the purchase of the O2 calibrator.

I was going to run the AEM FIC. purchased it and the boomslang harness. The harness wouldn't work for me. Sold the FIC and got a refund from boomslang. Please don't do business with boomslang. They suck balls.

So for now, I'm just going to try the O2 route.

What year/transmission do you have? Hopefully not an automatic 98 with Fed emissions...
