The 3.4L TRD Supercharger Thread

So i drove around to tune my timming. Im throwing a ton of timming at it and im still getting an audible ping in some areas. Its driving me nuts! Is there a no-no as to how much timming is too much? Is there somehing that could be wrong with my rig in gerneral if it needs this much?
My map right now. Areas with all the columns filled are values i have changed.

You are tying to pull timing right? Because I know AEM's software requires a negative sign in front of the number

I think I pull around 6 degrees in one part of my map.

Sorry to change the subject but I just took my supercharged 2000 on its first road trip since I bought it and I was appalled at the mileage I got. Ran several tanks of 91 octane through it and did no better than about 15mpg, all highway!

I am on 33's but holy smokes, I'm not sure I can afford to keep this thing fed with as much as I road trip.

What is everyone else getting mileage wise with a lift and 33" tires?

For the record my non SC '97 on 32"s gets up to 22mpg and averages 15-19 mpg per tank

I sealed mine up with some Permatex The Right Stuff, no leaks since.

Did you take it apart and do it at the o ring or just around the outside?

Sounds about right. Charged, lifted and tall 33" tires and I seem to get around 14-16 mpg. I regreared to 4.88 hoping to get a bump in mpg and power. 33" tires and 4.10 gearing wasn't cutting it for me with the charger. I'm very happy with the results, but haven't had enough runs through the tank to know if it improved mpg. I'm not concerned about the cost, I would like the mileage for overland trips. Nothing a couple gas cans can't fix.

How you drive definitely contributes to how good of mpg you get. I usually stay out of boost as much as I can to conserve. Do you have a heavy foot when driving?

Did you make sure to calculate the change in tire size into your equation? So when you fill up take your odometer reading and multiply it by 1.08 then divide by the amount of gallons you used. I'm getting around 18 mpg with mixed driving.

Been in the hunt for a 2nd gen SC and found one. SC has 18K, came off a wrecked Tacoma. Comes with tensioner, hardware, fuel management system and everything else needed to bolt it up and running. Asking 1800$. Seem like a fair deal? Anything I need to ask about?

Talk them down haha. If you pay that youre doing good. What fuel management does it come with? I had a buyer lined up for my. 1st gen before i decided to keep it for $1600, no power difference between them but 2nd gen is easier to rebuild if you need to.

I asked him if it was the urd 7th injector kit and he said no. Haven't heard back on what specific management it is.

Good for you man! With that low mileage claimed I wouldn't even do a rebuild. A guy from this years meet up in CA a few weeks back said his had 80K and bearings were fine. Mine had 30K when I got it and it's fine as well. I threw on the nose cone kit but back then it was only like $200...now it's over $500 from what I've seen!

I guess it all depends on your level of OCD and pocket book. Either way, good find man. Enjoy it, they're fun.

That's the TRD 7th injector I think! They made them for a while but were discontinued. I'm jealous, that was a great buy. If new, that's over $4000 in parts sitting right there.

I'm jealous as well. Mine was factory installed and mine don't have the management system. If it does it's not under the drive side dash.

Hey, good call!! I haven't even touched mine since I got AEM to check it out, several months - they said it was fine. So I bought a new Odyssey yesterday and threw it in, plugged in the Boomslang harness and AEM, fired right up!! No time to mess with it, but it started!! Yes my old battery was pretty slow turning it over.....

That's still pretty strange I have been able to jump mine have it turn over really slow but never had the issue you guys are describing.

Good choice on a battery though! That's the kind I use in all my stuff!

20 lb-ft for the nosecone according to this.

I use 38 lb-ft for the pulley on my 2nd gen (black) SC, but not sure if it is the same for the gray one...
