The 3.4L TRD Supercharger Thread

Shoot, that's what I was trying to avoid ... I don't plan on going back to a non supercharged T4R, but just as a safety cushion I'd rather not chop up that TB bracket just in case I need to remove the SC and put back the stock manifolds. It's time for me to man up and just learn how to fabricate stuff lol. Thanks for the response Volkinator, good luck with the house and your other projects!

I hear ya! Thanks though! Happy to help

How did you ruin your heads lol? Bent valves from ping? Typically you see bent rods from that... Were you running a smaller pulley without fueling? Idk about you, but I haven't had any issues other than a leaky snout and I am running 5psi (stock pulley) with no fueling mods. I also get 13 in town and 20 mpg on the highway. May have some what to do with having a manual but still.

I am pretty sure you would have to drive it like you stole it to cause the issues you are describing....

I'm worried about this.
I'm running 2.1" pulley w/ no fuel mods YET.
Leaky snout as well.

Don't worry. I got your back. Hold out a couple more weeks. I'm planning on cutting some out on our cnc plasma table. Then you can self bend them to shape. .

Shootmymime, you are the man!!!! I'll hold off on the search and wait for your prototypes to hit the streets. You didn't need a dipstick relocation bracket when'd you installed your SC correct? I think about 50 posts back you said you had enough clearance between your dipstick and the SC tension/belt? Btw, body lift is tits bro. 2" BL FTW!!:guitar2:

You're nuts, I haven't installed my High Boot S/C yet because I haven't got all of my fuel mods in place yet. 5th injector, fuel management & new fuel pump.

I installed my 2.1 pulley and I also upgraded to 380cc injectors but kept the stock pump.

I am still tuning the AEM, but I have yet to have any ping from the motor. Even when the A/F ratio gets up in the high 13s. Tuning is a weird balance of skewing the O2 sensor down to make it enrich the mixture and then adjusting the fuel table so that WOT is ok. Still don't have it right, but getting closer.

Uhh take the 2.1" pulley off ASAP until you get more fuel added. Good way to destroy your engine.

Well sheet. Another thing I wish Mr.Hentoni would have mentioned to me

URD website says:
The 2.1” normally will give approximately 1-1.5 PSI more boost over the 2.2” pulley. This should be used with 93 octane fuel minimum or used for vehicles at high elevations.

I am at high elevation and always run 91 (highest here)

Gotcha, didn't know you were at high elevation. I'm at sea level so it'd be a death sentence for my motor if I tried that. Do you hear any pinging at higher RPM's? If you do, I'd consider adding fuel. Or at least maybe a wideband O2 sensor to make sure you're not seeing A/F ratios above normal.

I don't hear pinging. It runs fairly decent and sounds normal.

I already have the URD 7th injector kit + AEM wideband units. I just don't have time and enough saved to have them installed / tuned properly yet. It's gona be at least another $1000 for install / tuning.

PLUS my SC is leaking oil, so I'm going to have them pull it, replace the nose seal + gaskets.... THEN add the fuel mods.

It's just sitting in my driveway, I did wheel it last weekend - everything was fine.

I have a backup vehicle to tool around town in.

So, after literally 2 years of talking about it, I'M FINALLY ABOUT TO DO IT!!!

I picked up a used Snow Performance methanol injection kit with the stage 3 controller and 8 gallons of 50/50 boost juice. Really excited to get this up and running in the near future. Once I sell a bit more stuff I'm also buying a 2.1" pulley. Was a great deal since the guy selling it works at the shop for a private dealership and they sell off any aftermarket parts that show up on their vehicles. Only paid $200 for the whole deal, would have been about $800 new.

Basically this kit but with the stage 3 controller: Stage 1 Boost Cooler Water-Methanol Injection Kit | Snow Performance. Would it benefit anyone if I took some photos along the way and gave a little bit of how to's? Will still be another month or so until I install it.

So guys. I created a drawing of the dual throttle cable/ transmission cables for the supercharger.

I am going to see what I can do to get these cut out soon and shipped out. I will probably post them on my fatpatsbodylifts.com web site for sale. But again what should I list this for? $15 free shipping? Is there much of need for the dual brackets?

I'll definitely take one!

First post...I'm 6months into owning my 2000 4runner and am doing some much needed maintance! Ie injectors, coil packs, clutch etc etc. I'm working towards being able to being able to properly utilize a blower but I have 460 000 Km's on the clock and wonder if it's not such a good idea adding boost to such a high mileage engine. Any thoughts?

Ps, this thread was a good read

460k km ~ 287k miles

Have a compression check done first. Many shops will do this for a decent price if you come in for other service if you do not have the tools or knowledge to do it yourself.

If it turns out good, then go for it. These engines last a long time, much longer than the rest of the vehicle! Just make sure you have all areas fixed first, you don't want to drop several thousand on a charger and then have your steering or suspension fail on you a week later.
