I put miles on my 4R in all kinds of weather on all kinds of trips (20-25k miles a year) - overlanding, towing, wheeling - so quieter the better in the cabin.
I already had all 4 doors dynamatted last year (as you can see in the pics below) and it made a noticeable difference. I wanted more and had some time today. Having recently replaced all 4 rusted door handles, I am very familiar with taking apart the door panels, so figured this was a good time to add more sound deadening before I forgot how that stuff came apart and went back together.
So I ran to home depot and picked up the "Frost King" duct insulation. Plenty of youtube reviews of this frost king stuff that are positive, so figured it was worth a shot, especially since I went with the high $$ Dynamat for the 'base coat'. Frost King is $18 per roll, I picked up 2 rolls - you will have enough to do all 4 doors, rear hatch and still have half a roll left over (see pics).
Pics below should be self-explanatory. I have only put a few miles on since doing it, so can't tell how much difference it makes just yet. I will be driving 500 miles back home in a few days, so I will report back with definitive findings. Initial impressions - I think there is a noticeable difference in low speeds. At high speeds, the wind noise still feels the same - I have a huge Thule roof box plus I'm lifted real high, so wind noise may be what it is for me.
Overall, if you don't have any sound deadening now, I expect this to make a noticeable difference. And for under 2 hours and $30, its a no brainer really.
