Weird oil leak - 5VZFE

Hey everyone, first post. I am in the process of re sealing the front end of my 5vzfe on my 2000 4runner. The main oil leak was presumably from the very loose front crankshaft seal. I bought aircabinmans full kit and will be installing it to fix all the normal leak spots.

That being said, I noticed that an oil leak may actually be coming from this spherical ball in the casting of the block. You can see it right in the center of this photo, directly below the waterpump area. It appears to be some sort of ball plug installed after drilling a long oil galley or something. Has anyone ever had this leak? There's a possibility that the crankshaft oil leak was getting flung around and misleading me, but is there any risk of permanently sealing this ball with something like JB weld?

I do not believe it would ever need to vent or anything like that, but I do not want to deal with any leaks this deep into the engine after re assembling it all.

I do not believe it would ever need to vent or anything like that, but I do not want to deal with any leaks this deep into the engine after re assembling it all.

That should be a freeze plug and is often sealed with HTV or similar when building/assembling an engine. They do sometimes leak. JB Weld would be too aggressive IMO.

U r correct that it is a ball bearing, to remove said u would have to drill it out which I've never seen being necessary because they don't generally leak, I doubt ur leak is coming from said, but with that said JB welding it isn't going to hurt anything, but again I highly doubt that's ur leak.

Hello! I just got a '97 Limited 4WD with about 170K miles from the original owner out of Jackson Mississippi. She only had 1 set of keys by this point and said she never had a fob for remote unlock or an alarm. I looked under the driver seat and I don't see a RS 3000 box and I don't have a red light next to the handbrake. However, I do have a single red button with no text around it to the right of the dash light dimmer switch and to the left of the steering wheel that does not appear to do anything. Does anyone know what this light/button may be for? Could it have keyless entry? Owner said she never installed anything aftermarket. No modification to the truck at all that I can see anywhere. Thanks!!

1. What are the largest tires you can put on the stock wheels/rims? Curious

2. Air conditioner is squeaking? Besides tightening the belt and a crap ball bearing what else could it be? I get the belt tightened every year which seems to help temporarily. Also, when the truck is warmed up it seems to be less annoying.

3. Lastly, have a squeak when turn the 4runner all the way left or right? I heard could be an alignment issue.

As an update, I found the original window sticker in some paperwork and it looks like the light is associated with a Gulf States Toyota dealer installed Securikey Plus system. Now to find a fob that works and programing instructions....

Power steering often pumps squeal when you turn full to lock, it's the belt slipping on the pulley.
The easiest way to avoid this is to not hold hard against full lock when turning all the way in one direction.

1. 285/75-16 work fine on rim not so well with stock height.

2. Dirty pulleys after 100-200k miles they all need a good scrubbing.

3. Up against hard stop that normal.

Sorry if this is unrelated and/or reviving an old thread

I have a 2001 SR5 4Runner 2WD 3.4L V6 and just last week while I was driving on the highway the battery light came on and next thing you know the engine died. All the electronics were on just the motor died. Tried restarting and jumping but it will crank and crank but no turn over. Prior to it dying I was having issues of the gas pedal feeling like it would give out and only accelerate it it was pressed all the way, along with small shakes when accelerating over 1.5k ( 50+ mph)

Had it towed back home to work on and diagnose the code that was being thrown, it was the 1st position o2 sensor soI changed out both the 1st and 2nd one and still no start.

The fuel pump is pumping (changed last month), fuel filter is clear (also changed last month), fuel pump regulator is pumping as well (just changed), MAF is clean (also just changed), spark plugs&wires&coil packs are also brand new. Throwing no codes and still wont start even with starting fluid.

At my wits end with the car and any suggestion would be greatly appreciated

What was the actual code you pulled? You have listed a bunch of things which were just changed. It would be helpful to know which you did before the problem and which you did after trying to solve the problem.

The code was P1135 but the code went away after I changed out the o2 sensors. All of the things that were just changed was after the problem.
