So my 2000 4r 2wd died on the highway. Cruising at 70mph. No noises, coasted to the side. Tried to start it back up but acted like a dead battery. Click but no crank. Checked all cables, battery and connections all seemed good. No battery and alternator no change. Towed home.
Unable to crank over by hand on crank pulley with spark plugs removed. No oil or water contamination. Timing belt is still tight and intact from top inspection cover.

Any ideas before I pull the oil/filter/oil pan?

I4 or V6 is pretty important
I would suspect your alt over anything. What makes you think it's still good, did the batt did still have voltage or something?
No slow cranking recently?

Were you using socket and breaker bar on crank pulley bolt turning engine over clockwise rotation?
If your hand turning crank pulley doubt is enough to rotate engine never tried it though.
Won't turn with breaker bar I'd pull engine before pan.

Loosen all your drive belts and try rotating the crank pulley with a long ratchet or breaker bar. If it still doesn't rotate then it sounds like either the crankshaft or one of the camshafts has locked up likely due to bearing failure. You can try looking at the filter media by cutting it open with an oil filter cutter from amazon or a pair of tin snips. If you use a cut off wheel/grinder you'll contaminate the filter media.

'98 4runner SR5 (Green) light bulbs?

I have two TINY light bulbs that go into where the HVAC controls are. I have never seen bulbs this tiny. I can't distinguish what the letter/numbers are on them because they are too old. Does anyone know what these are called so I can find them at an auto parts store?

Is it just me or do you guys think that the beam spread is different between the two headlights? I could be overthinking this but it seems like they’re different since they’re two different bulbs.

Retrofit Headlights | Basic Questions for 1998 4runner

I want to keep this relatively straightforward, I'm just not super familiar with what I need for a proper retrofit. My budget is less than $200 so alot of prebuilt kits are out of my price range.
On Amazon I found these projectors: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07D1MLQCV...ct_9QEHQ37SE93 E19A577WA
If I'm correct then these need h1 hid bulbs, so I found these: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07G7NPWBX...ct_9QEHQ37SE93 E19A577WA
the bulbs need a ballast so I saved this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07Q4V9DT9...ct_9QEHQ37SE93 E19A577WA
Then I need a relay and plugs to strip so I don't have to mess up my factory wiring harness to convert from my plugs (h4) to the h1.
Found this wiring harness: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B089M4DC45...ct_9QEHQ37SE93 E19A577WA
Then I believe I simply need to combine the low beam positive with the high beam positive to tie it into the h1 plug?

Please tell me if there are any better ways of doing this or any other product recommendations around the same price as these!

Any comments or help is appreciated.

None of your links work...

With that said, look up DDM Tuning. They have good prices and have been around for like 20 years with retail stores, an Amazon store, and online sales.

I just picked up their 3" Bi-LED projectors and shrouds for less than $140

Thank you, sorry I didn't notice the links broke.
I'll check them out.
Will a 3" projector fit well in a 3rd gen headlight? Everyone I've seen used 2.5" projectors.

Is the Andymod 2.0 possible on an '02 2wd?

Hello all!
I've been trying to figure out how to complete the Andymod 2.0 (VSC and Trac off) mod on my 2002 2wd 4runner once I noticed my factory trac off button only works under 20ish mph and the VSC robs my power at the slightest hint of me wanting to break traction.

I followed the Andymod 2.0 tutorial by Timmy the Toolman on YouTube and checked various forums to see what I would need, and got most of the way into the mod before realizing that my ECU under the dash didn't have the wire (red w/ black tracer) I was meant to be splicing into, and found out that the 2wd and 4wd models apparently have different ECU's.

Does anyone have experience accomplishing this on a 2wd 4runner? Thanks.

Possibly valve cover gasket?

So I got home from work today and smelled a burning smell and saw some smoke. Naturally I was like wtf. I can hear something drip and sizzle which I’m probably sure where my issue is. I noticed a faint burning smell last week running errands and didn’t smell it again until today. I will attach pictures but it’s my guess that my valve cover gaskets are going bad. This would be strange to me because the gaskets were “replaced” by my dad’s mechanic before I got it. This was in 2021. I’ve never know for gaskets to go bad that fast, maybe so, this is my first 4Runner so I have no idea. Doesn’t sound right to me. Any help will be appreciated and I’ll add pictures that hopefully help. 1999 limited V6. Couldn’t get video to load so I took some screenshots of the video. The leak seems to be at the rear of the engine closer to the fire wall.

This chrome bumper from the junk yard will fit on my 99 SR5, right? Looks the same. Are limited bumpers different? Will go there tomorrow morning
