Man, I almost feel bad for the OP. I couldn't imagine how tough the average day is if things bother him this much. :hurt:
I have owned my 2008 since day one (in 2007). I did replace the handle for being sticky about a decade ago and have had zero problems since. I would say the design is totally fine. You bought a decade plus old vehicle, expect to have to pay for some minor things. Not even going to get into your gas cap post....
