As I was driving down Route 9, I looked on the Toyota lot and saw two brand new 5th gen SR5's sitting there. I pull the quickest u-turn in history and run out of my truck like a little school kid. Unfortunately, I couldn't drive them because they had just arrived and were not prepped. The salesman was nice enough to pull the new truck near my 05. It actually made my 4th gen look like a baby near it. Sorry there are no pics, but it was night time and all I had was my cell cam. Here are my thoughts:
Exterior
-Looks very attractive in person
-Significantly higher and longer than the the 4th gen
-Love the signal mirrors
-Wheels look sharp
-Uggh, the mast antenna
-No more soft close lift gate (at least on the SR5)
Interior
-The windshield is straight, which made the truck feel less "personal" and more business like
-Materials have went DOWN- all plastic
-New instrument cluster looks nice
-Party mode sounded great
-Entering the truck seems a bit tough without running boards.
I will keep you updated when I test drive it
