The LFD Off Road Thread

It has been quite a while, but we've finally got our first parts coming off the new CNC Tube plasma! Anyone want to take a guess what it's for? :D

Sliders?

Loving my LFD 3/4 rack! I have a limited with sunroof and no plans for a tent or anything, so the 3/4 was the way to go for me. Solid stuff!

EDIT - I plastidipped the bolt heads prior to installation.

Most of the way there! Bumper is on, just a few small things left to button up on it - cutting the plastic, etc. Went with the color matched swing arms for the #overlander points :D

Where's that slider testing photo though :bounce:

Purposefully dropping the 4Runner on rocks was interesting

I kept accidentally hi-centering on the skids instead of hitting the rocks with the slider. No worry, Jack and Cast with the Hi-Lift on the slider was another item on the testing list! (Certified trainer operating the jack and spotting me, he stepped out of frame for the photo)

But after I got angled correctly in the obstacle we got some really good slider action (and squished a mud flap and fender trim in the process)

Today was the hardest I've ever been on one of my 4Runners. Purposefully hitting everything I could in that obstacle. Dropping on rocks, repeatedly. Accidentally coming off one boulder really hard and landing on that new rear bumper against a rock hard enough that I bashed my knee on the steering wheel during the hit and its now swollen. We weren't being gentle that's for sure.

I'm extremely pleased with how today's testing went to say the least.

Alright, someone pull me out of these rocks, I'm pretty well stuck.

So since the code is already out there, BlackFriday15 is now active and good site-wide! We will be doing some more special sales as it gets closer to actual Black Friday. For example, I know of one "slidey" part that will get a special sale, and we're working on more special packages and offerings as well.

And, a new product announcement! We've had our air compressors installed for more than a year in our vehicles with brackets we've made, but have never gotten around to actually listing it for sale. The compressor mount is made of 11 gauge 304 grade stainless steel, and is run through our horizontal finishing machine prior to bending to deburr edges and give a nicer finish to the metal. It will come with all needed hardware for installation (but not an air compressor, you have to get that separately.)

It's a two part piece, a support arm and the main base. We designed it to work with the ARB compressors but you can always drill new holes for a different compressor if needed. The nice thing about stainless steel is you don't have to worry about rust if you do modify the part to attach something else, there is no paint to damage or exposed carbon steel that can turn to rust later. I installed this one in my 4Runner today in less than 10 minutes, and that included removing my old prototype unit from last year.

We've got some in stock at the moment, with more in process.

This isn't the last new product announcement for the month either, so stay tuned ;)
