For your crossbars, is this type of degradation around the slots normal? It's only been a couple months outside and haven't even installed anything on these cross bars yet.

Anyone know the dimensions of the mounting plate for the air compressor mount?

I had my Viair 300P mounted using the LFD mounting plate under my hood until I got a bigger air box. Now its mounted in the cargo area.

Thanks! I've got a 400P, which looks like is about an inch wider and longer (if I leave the foot plate on). You think it would still fit?
Foot plate dimensions are 10.9" x 5.8"

I took the foot plate off. I reused the isolators to keep the vibrations to a minimum, and that worked really well. Honestly, the LFD Plate is Stainless Steel - so, if the hole don't line up you can still drill new holes without worrying about rust. Its definitely worth it. I can't use mine anymore, but I'm keeping it in case I can repurpose it - so many ideas floating around...

Keep an eye on your bars! I've had these installed for ~7 months and they are already looking like this, does this look normal to folks?
And this was in San Diego during a severely below average for precipitation year. You can see some areas are already rusting, others are close to following suit... and this was even without me installing anything on them.

I have 4 of the steel wide bars that I have on for at least 4 months now and haven’t noticed this. I will keep a look out. I’m in SoCal too. That’s not acceptable. It has only rained here a couple of times in the last four to five months, unfortunately.Keep an eye on your bars! Thanks, yeah I agree this is unacceptable... currently discussing how to remedy the situation with them. Must have been a bad batch of powdercoats because literally ever machined edge is degrading, after next winter I bet these bars will be totally rusted.

Does anyone know what the difference is between the LFD full-rack crossbars and the shorter rack crossbars? At first I thought that everything was modular, but noticed on their website for the 5th gen 4runner, "The full rack is NOT compatible with our standard Ruggedized Crossbars".
I was a little bummed to see the incompatibility. Was hoping I could just buy a few bars to get me through this year on the factory rack, and then add full-rack side-rails next year.

All cross bars are the same design until you get up to the full-size rack. The smaller racks are really driven towards modular design and staying within the confines of the OEM roof rack...
The full size rack is significantly wider to completely utilize the full roof area.
Having owned both, I absolutely love them all, but the full length roof rack is definitely my favorite.

That's not normal. Definitely sounds like the powder coating company messed that up. I'm confident that the guys at LFD will do what they can to work with you to remedy this.
I had a couple of steel bars that are having issues with powder coat, but I am extremely hard on them and almost all of my LFD gear is at least 3 years old now. I plan to sand them down and repaint them once things cool off here. We've also had a ton of rain (like double our yearly average already). So, I was not surprised.
Mine are doing the same thing.
We’re on the Oregon coast but my 4Runner spends most of it’s time in the garage.

I’ve had mine for almost 3 years in the Gulf Coast Houston area. They look almost as new as when they arrived. Definitely a QC issue. I would seek replacement from LFD. I’ll post pics later.
LFD wide crossbars with Roam adventure box
I ordered a pair of LFD Wide Crossbars and I’m about to get a 95L Roam Box. I don’t want to drill into it though. Anyone have any suggestions on how to securely (and neatly) mount on top?
I saw the Sherpa mounts but unfortunately they don’t seem like they’ll work on LFD’s since it’s not an extrusion style bar. Bummer.

You can easily use the Sherpa mounts on an LFD crossbar if you drill into the side of the crossbar. I'm going to be doing something like that for my Solar Panels.
Good call. That gives me an idea on maybe fabricating a bolted attachment that the Sherpa mounts can then bolt into.

Back to the rust/erosion issue here are my 3yr old LFD crossbars. No rust of corrosion. I really like them. My only issue was with steel wind fairing. The QC wasn’t that great. The edges were pretty rough. To the credit of LFD they sent me an aluminum fairing which looks great! However at speeds above 80mph it howls like crazy so I went back to the steel one.
I’m very impressed with LFD and think their bars to fit the 4Runners OEM rails is a great product!
