Running boards do come in handy if you use the roof rack. It makes taking the snowboard up and down a breeze.

I use the top of the tire and its just as if not more effective for roof duties.

I just got some running boards for my 01 2wd. I like the look both on and off. Off, the T4R looks much cleaner. On, it keeps all the mud and dirt off the lower door panels and side mirrors. I put them on so it makes getting in a lot easier for my 79 year old mother.

I took mine off because every time i got done wheeling and would get out of my truck my pants would get dirty as hell when i got out

That always happens when i get out of m friends cherokee cept i'm wearing shorts, they also promote rust on the underside of your t4r

I like how my runner looks now the way it came from factory. But I would probably take them off if I had a lift, they look much better with sliders.

I bought the my 2001 new and it was a bare bones model. It looked good to me without the running boards and I could in without a problem. I am 6'4" and my Wife is 5'2". Bottom line, I bought runners boards within a week and installed them. Any questions????:bash:

I say take em off, I just sold mine to piperoo today...

my wife has a bit of a jump up right now, and its gonna get bigger, but she doesnt like riding in my 4runner too much anyways, and when I get the rock sliders on there she can use those. .
