Yeah the twin is much larger. No way it would fit there. For now I mounted it upside down to the cargo basket I have on the tool bar, but that's not gonna be permanent. Tomorrow I'm gonna wire it in and make a bracket for it.

I don't know how big those are, but definitely bigger than what I have. How about about the other side....with the connector sticking out the panel? If you take the box out there's more room there than on the left....or I've seen people leave the box in and put a compressor in there....have seen people build brackets that fit above the wheel well...
it will be interesting to see your bracket and what you come up with.

So today I went over to a friends house and helped him with his well that took a dump... Long story, anyhow afterwords I fabed up a bracket for my ARB twin. I mounted it off of the two bolts holding in the back of the roll bar. It came out great until I dropped it just after painting it... So I'll have to remove it later and repaint it but for now it's in and all I have to do now is wire it up.

With where you mounted it, we can easily bend a heat shield for it.
I have a bent up door that can sacrifice some sheet metal for it if you decide to go that route.

I'll think about it. But right now it's doing just fine. I only have work tools back there and it's only running when the back hatch its open typically so it has plenty of fresh air. Well will see, once I burn myself on it I might change my mind on things lol.

So Thursday and Friday I learned how to weld aluminum at work, so I think some new mods will be coming in a light weight flavor... Think roof rack (for both rigs) and skids for the GX

No, its a MIG. Our shop has like 12 or 13 different welders in it, and they are all set up for different stuff. This MIG has only ever seen aluminum and that's all it will ever be used for. You can MIG aluminum but keeping the feed clean is hard and so that's why it's solely used for aluminum. We do have a TIG, but I haven't been brave enough to try it out yet.

It's nice cause I'm getting paid to learn, and practice. We have several water tanks we need to build (for fire suppression on our service trucks) and so as long as they hold water no one really cares what they look like -we can always grind down the welds lol.

Right on, must be nice to have all those toys to play with. If you get a chance, find some scrap and have a go at it with the TIG. I once got to play with a really nice Miller (a $10K+ machine) and would love to have a couple hours with one, or to build something. It's a cool process.

I'm sure you'll get into it soon if you guys have that much work to do.

EDIT... Glad to see you back at it with the 4Runner again, btw. I've always enjoyed your build.

Thank you!, that means a lot coming from someone such as yourself and your prowess.

I will try to get some time in on the TIG, though it probably won't be anytime soon. We have more work than we can shake a stick at and its just piling up right now -we are in a "work halt"/due to an insurance issue(another company with the same insurance had an " incident" and their insurance cited a loophole to which they found reason not to pay/cover said incident...) So everyone with that insurance got suspended till it's they find new a insurance carrier. So it's been 2weeks and its just getting its approval. -I do structural retrofits/modifications to cell phone towers now and so a ton of welding and fabrication and winching (flying 1200lb 30+' bars of steel 100' in the air to put on the side of a tower to strengthen it). So honestly there is not a lot of TIG welding to be done lol, hence why we only have one TIG machine.

My biggest problem is patience, I don't have any so learning to TIG might be harder for me lol
-if patience is a virtue, why can't hurry the hell up be one too!?

I'm just a guy with a decent set of tools, good research skills, and some will. The only thing it sounds like I may have on you is a little bit of patience, and probably JUST a little bit.

Your rig is all about function... it looks like it's ready to put in work, and is equipped to do so. You've gotta respect function over form, but the two actually go hand in hand when it comes to your 4Runner.

The new job sounds interesting, and hazardous.

Picked me up a new cooler for the rig... No way was I gonna pay the price of a yeti, but I figured I'd take a chance on the rtic. It's identical in almost every way, but less than half the cost.

That's annoying. When I went to order one back in February it said that the delivery date was going to be near the end of July. When I e-mailed asking wtf they sent me an automated message that it was first come first serve, months of back orders, etc.

I hope it works out for you- they do seem like a very good option.
