im sure it also didnt help that i was towing close to 2500lbs of tools and equipment in my trailer as well. thats another story as it damaged my rear bumper, -id suggest not towing with a non tow hitch... aftermarket bumper with 2" receivers are not adequate. i now have close to a 1/2 sag gap on my CBI at the back of the truck and i can visually see the bend in the mounting brackets.

Ok, this has me a bit worried hearing about this. I wonder what CBI rates their hitches at? I've been researching trailers and I figured that was one area I wouldn't have to worry about (though I shouldn't be anywhere close to 2500 lbs of stuff on a trailer).
I did contact CBI after I've had mine for a bit and suggested a few changes. Turns out they already did them after I bought mine. I'm sure I'll be taking mine off and beefing it up in a few places, and adjusting others. It should be easy to add some structure to it for towing.
When you get a chance, could you post a pic of your bumper?
