I do the same thing with a sealable plastic tub which is bungeed to the attachment points. Makes carrying dirty things much easier as well (like the 3rd effin time you've had to buy plants because of hail storms 2 weeks apart).

My Husky liner helps a little bit with this because of the lip on the back, though not against really heavy items since its still a bit flimsy.
I reinforced my Husky liner back lip with several pieces of aluminum angle material. It will not fold back on heavy items now. Just takes several 4" pieces of this. Everbilt 2 in. x 96 in. Aluminum Angle with 1/16 in. Thick-802607 - The Home Depot

The wife has a couple plastic milk crates for groceries, etc. that nest together when not in use. She also has a couple big insulated bags for cold stuff that zip shut. Easy to unload and carry in. We live 25 miles from the grocery store; so the insulated bags are required for hot weather.

This is so damned easy to fix, people! Just have the wife do the shopping in her minivan and leave the 4 runner in the garage, at home, where its safe from dents and dings and things falling out the back!

My wife does the grocery shopping. She knows better than to let me loose in a grocery store without adult supervision. Def a first world problem!
Lowes or Home Depot sells these plastic mortar mixing containers at the cement and re-bar area of the store. They're $5…6 each. I have three. Everything I buy goes in one. Not long ago the wife bought a jug of bleach that had a damaged top. When she got home there was liquid bleach sloshing around in the container. No harm, no foul!

Its on page 955.
It states "Don't put round sh!t in the back of your 4Runner, it will fall out when you open the hatchback unless it is secured in one of 492 ways.

Oh, I do carry some stuff that could roll, it's my ammo but it never falls out the back...it's in ammo cans and its way too heavy!
