I'm super impressed with your prep and paint/plastidip work. It's amazing how those little details can really set your vehicle apart from the rest.

I did sliders on my old Suzuki the same way you did, and after 5 years, the paint held up amazingly well, disregarding the scratches and gouges in the metal...

I haven't plastidipped a logo before, only a few sets of wheels, and didn't peel any off. Does it really peel away around the letters as easily as it looks in the photo, or do you have to trim it with a razor first?

Thanks. Glad to hear it holds up so well. The plastidip just peels off around the letters very cleanly. No scoring needed. It makes it so easy to do emblems. As I said it just takes a toothpick to begin separating it on inside details. I'm happy with the way it allowed me to tie together the trim for a more cohesive color scheme. I also like the textured finish better.

Thanks for mentioning the DisplayOffImage customization, I hadn't run across that yet.

Finally found a through trail that started in one region, meandered thru the mountains and came out in another. (Yay, no gates!) It got kinda hairy at some points cause it appeared unused for a long time. Had to do some clearing. Fortunately the trunks were old and punky, easily rolled out of the way. Lots of branches and brush. Definitely added pinstripeing. Got into a technical rock garden that made me nervous being alone and deep in the hills. Don't think roadside assistance would help me there. Pics don't do the boulders justice. Sliders and skids did their jobs today. 4-lo 1st gear and foot firmly on brake. Slow and steady. Still enough bangs and crunches to make me cringe. No under damage tho. Overhanging trees are why no roof rack or rtt. Found a use for my tree strap. (Forgot my saw.) The Tank is tough. That's why I tolerate 3.4 mpg in 4-lo. Good day.

Nice lookin 4runner! Thanks for the pictures of the floor liners, that helped me make a decision.

Thanks. After having the Huskies in for a year now they're holding up great. I drag alot of mud, snow and rocks onto them and they keep it all contained and are easy to clean.

Rustoleum Fail

While pressure washing the under side of the truck I noticed rust in the elbows of the supports of my rock sliders. Six months ago I thoroughly cleaned and sanded the raw steel and painted them with two coats of Rustoleum self etching primer and 3 coats of acrylic enamel paint. Evidently the repeated scouring of grit sandblasted those areas. There is also a little rust starting around the seams of the rear diff housing. I will be having a party underneath the entire truck with sandpaper, Eastwood and Fluid Film this summer. I'll be damned if rust will eat away this expensive investment!

Very Nice. Spent a lot of time walking and driving trails in/around Minerva and Newcomb. Hunting camp at Santanoni in Newcomb for many years. Many years ago, my Dad dropped his International Travall 1200 onto a rock running one of those remote trails. Cracked the skid plate right off the frame and and holed the transfer case housing. Was able to drive it out to main road before it let go otherwise recovery cost would have been more then the cost to replace the transfer case/skid plate. People don't realize how remote, rough and beautiful the Adirondacks area is.

I found that most paints chipped easily. Since I switched to Rustoleum spray on bedliner, I haven't had that issue come back. May want to give it a try. I got it at Walmarx. There appear to be two types on the shelf, all I remember was it is the more expensive of the two. I think it is this:

That is a beautiful area up there and one of the more remote regions. While I've spent many years hiking in the eastern, south central and high peaks regions I now am going to explore the northern and western areas. 30 years ago there were far more trails to wheel and I would spend days creeping along narrow hunting trails and old logging roads in my Mazda B2600. My risk tolerance was much higher back then and I got into some sketchy situations in swamps and rocky slopes. It's the deep mud and muck hiding boulders that get ya. Even now if you break down deep in the hills the only way out is to hike and hope to find someone with a 4x4 willing to go in and drag your rig out.

Thanks for the tip. I'll give it a try. I obviously need something heavier duty on there. I am planning on spraying inside my frame rails with Eastwood Internal Frame Coating and was debating whether or not I wanted to remove my sliders to get better access into the frame but since I'll obviously need to respray the sliders I guess they will be coming off.

I did the Eastwood internal frame coating. Speaking from experience, it really does take 3 cans. I bought 2 and I think I'm a bit short but not by much. I used the green so you can see what was treated vs black. I hate the fact they salt the roads here now.

Nitto Terra Grapplers on snow

Tested the tires on unplowed access roads. Squirrely as hell in 4h. 4lo not much better. Aired down to 20 psi. Better but tried turning around in trail to make another run. Got hung up in slight ditch decline. 4lo atrac, nope. Lock rear diff, unh uh. Shoveled a bit and tried crawl control, just ground away and polished the bowls deeper. Finally aired down to 15, shoveled some more and backed out. In all fairness though this was powder over icey crust on top of solid ice. On the snowy roads they did great. 4hi with terrain select on sand, mud keeps the truck stable in varying snow depths. I guess they will do for now. Eventually I will get Ridge Grapplers but for now I will get chains, probably v bars.
