Its a small window so less glass and they target the rear so they don't have to sit on broken glass as they strip the vehicle of its belongings. Its pretty common to break those type of widows on a vehicle, the rare times I've seen it on the front windows are when the vehicle is a two door without the small triangle windows or an inexperienced thief who is learning the trade.

Less conspicuous to break the smaller window, then open the door by reaching arm through and unlocking. Then they have all the time they want to root around inside the truck.

Jay12- Full coverage is nice to have, insurance is covering the repairs.
Webby- Even if the hood can be fixed, I'm not going to fix it, just going to replace it. They messed up the padding/heat shield as well as you can see in the pictures.
Seatown- I'm in SE Portland, and I'm sure glad they didn't take the recaro.

I'd have everything finger printed.
I don't know about there, but cops here won't even show up to a vehicle break-in/theft. They mail you the report for you to fill out and mail back. They really could not give less of a ****.
Super sorry to see that. I'm actually curious as to how they disconnected the battery. Did they get a cutting tool down through that hole and cut the cable or did they actually drill it accurately enough to wrench off the connection? It looks a little too far rearward for that. Also, I'm kind of confused because it seems like that would make a whole ****load of noise. I can't think of any way to quietly cut through metal. This was a pretty ballsy thief to do this right in your driveway.

Yea, cops don's care here either. They actually disconnected the negative terminal, thank God they didn't cut it. As for the hole, I think they made an initial puncture with a sharp pick or something like that and then they cut it open with a hand held sheet metal cutter. the only noise they probably made is a bang/pop sound when they made the first puncture (who knows).
I was actually outside the other night at around 11:30pm, and I see three dudes coming down the street. One on a bike, and two walking. The guy on the bike had a backpack, the other two were just walking. First thing that popped in my head was "these are the f-ers that did this". The guy on the bike had the tools in the backpack, the other two were his helpers/lookouts. I think I'll just leave my truck out one night, all unlocked, and just wait for them to come back. Then pull out the 12 guage and show them what's up. Might get my truck a little messy, but it'll be fun :hunter:

My buddy who hunts a lot was telling me about a gift his kids got him recently. Evidently they sell an infared camera system for setting up in the woods and it takes pictures when activated by motion, no flash. It was only like $89, might be a cheap way to catch anyone messing with your stuff. I like the 12 guage idea too

That's really ****ed up. If they have the balls to do it to you, they would to it to any other person. Good thing my drive way is next to my bed room.
But hey, if you say to the cops that they stole $1,000+ dollars of items, I think they would jump it, because like more other people have said it looks like some career criminals. The popo would most likely want to get them off the streets, if they cared. I would still liek to find out if it could be finger printed, them you could really find those ****ers and show them who's boss.

I'm sorry that they ****ed up your car and the piece of mind of moving into a good neighborhood.
There are some good night vision surveillance systems that can link through your computer that sound an alarm if its tripped.
Texas has a Homestead protection Act which all states should have IMO. If you come on my property and touch my $hit you will get shot (legally).

:dammit:Absolutely terrible, so sorry to see this. I had some punks try to break in my garage to get at my acura. Thankfully my 2 Pit Bulls scared them away before they got all the way in. People are freaking a-holes

I used to live in SE Portland (Eastmorland near Reed College) and you would think it is a nice place to grow up in but really it was a gold mine for thieves. My Dad had one of his 1965 VW Bugs stolen and driven out to Virginia. We had a 1990's Plymoth Grand Voyager that used to get broken into constantly but it was the stock van and there wasn't really anything to take out of that. It got stolen and ditched a few blocks away. Since I have moved away for the Military my brothers and my Dad have had golf clubs stolen out of the trunk, brother's Nike basketball shoes from the backseat, and more CD's stolen than I can even think of.
So yeah, the only crime we ever saw over there was theft for having nice things. They _REALLY_ wanted your toys, and there's nothing you could have done to make it any harder on them unless you have a fireteam of Marines posted.

it looks like they knew exactly what they were doing they took the time to unplug everything not cut the wires!
I had a system stolen out of my old truck while the alarm was going off in a restaurant parking lot!
I got a paging alarm and I am working on getting a concealed weapons permit!
I just replaced my stock radio with a new unit and I still have my cd/tape unit you can have if you want till you get everything replaced.

CRASHMAN, thanks for the offer, but my insurance just cut me a check today for the damage/loss. It'll be back to pre-loss condition very soon. Also adding a paging alarm to the car, and I already have my concealed weapon permit :AK47:, I've had it for years now. If only I would have caught them in the act, would have been a different ending. :hunter: It's all good, thank God for full coverage and a great insurance company.

Sorry to see this happened; it's unbelievable what people are capable of doing. Happy hunting going forward, however. I seriously hope you get the drop on a couple of them with that 12 gauge you mentioned.
