!#$@! Thieves

No at the moment I don't have an alarm but this is a pretty good incentive to get one :)
Hope you don't have to find out how well your alarm works. On a side note I used to live on The Big Island in Hilo,my Dad is still there.Always great going back there !

Really? I'm just starting at UH Hilo and dorming. Lived in Waimea and I love it here on this island too much to leave. haha

Sorry to hear about that! Lowlife's are always watching and preying.
BTW, I dont know when you posted this. Did you claim this from your home insurance? It should be claimable, provided you had a police report.

that sucks

I live in Sacramento, havnt had my windows broken but ive had my Catolatic Converter stolen twice. Once was 10 feet away from my front door and the other in a park an ride parking lot. Now i have a cheep after market Cat so they wont steal it. If i ever catch someone stealling these or braking into a car they so are getting a beat down they are going to be the ones asking someone to call the police.... My prev car war a Toy Celica. that one had the stereo stolen 3 time while living in Apartments. f*in dirtbags..

I feel the pain. I got broken into a few months back, fortunately they only yanked a $100 wal-mart deck and left the $2500 of flyfishing gear and bike in the vehicle. The worst of it is that it happened in Tulsa, Ok where I live and the TPD wouldnt even send out an officer to file a report. I had to get online and file my own. What do I pay taxes for? Oh yeah....nothing, I just pay them. Maybe its all tied up in maintaining the poorest quality roads in the nation. Good rant thread.

Thieves are at in my neighborhood as well. You can't leave you're garage door open past dusk anymore - used to be good to go.

I really believe you should have a finger cut off if you steal something. That way, the rest of us can pick you out when we want to hire somebody, buy something from somebody, or whatever. Think about it, you could advertise you car for sale on a site like this and state, "Driven by a respectful person as I have all my fingers to prove it." When you would see a person with two fingers cut off you would really know that person is a low life.

My passenger side window rolls down about halfway when you use auto roll up on it. When the previous owner had it in Austin, someone broke out the window and stole the factory radio. It has the factory alarm thing next to the steering wheel...but there isn't one...

I'm so glad the first owner of my 4runner opted for the tonneau cover, since I have a camera, toolbox, and soon bunker gear for fire dept. I'm definitely getting my CCW the day I turn 21, and buying me a revolver. And I hope to set up hidden cameras inside the 4runner, don't want nobody taking my hard earned stuff.

Out of sight, out of mind whether it's a cover or a dark tint. Best thing is take your stuff with you or drop it off before you leave your belonging unattended. You never know who is watching. Store your belongings away before you get to your destination.

On another note; I'm ccw permitted and carry whenever I leave the house.
Becareful of the false sense of security the permit may appear to warrant. A CCW is not a permit to fire off a round. If you miss or found to have made an unjustifiable discharge you could be sharing a cell with the thief. The difference of the offense will be obvious, when the jail time for the thief is days and yours is years. lol

Best Regards............8sm

Ok just had to rant..go to SFO airport to pickup my Wife's sister and two of her friends .Load everyone into the Runner and stop off at Pier 39 to do the tourist thing on the way home.Park in a nice garage, middle of the day and go to lunch.I had to go back and get something out of the Runner, gone about 20 minutes....and some low life had smashed out the rear window and grabbed the luggage. To say I was pissed is an understatement.
Nope didn't have a tonneau cover as mine has been missing and have been looking around for one.Might have helped if it was there.Moral of the story use your tonneau cover!
At least I get to buy something new for the Runner but would have wanted something cooler than replacing my glass :)
Just had to rant about it

Sounds like you need to go :hunter:

Bummer deal man....While we're on the subject of thieves. I just paid $15 for the 2 bolts and 2 nuts that hold the lateral rod on the rear diff and frame from a thieving dealer here in Prescott. New to town and I didn't feel like running around looking for a place that sold something I could match up. Dealer is fairly close so I just grinned and bared it.

I feel your pain

This happened to me about 2 months ago

My alarm did go off but he was quick and grabbed what he could and ran off :ybrick:

That's actually the best window to break. Super easy to fix. The worst is when they do you a "favour" and break the rear fixed side window.

Forgot to mention the one with the radio antenna in it. Add a few more extra hundred to the bill. Mine wasn't done by a thief, but a jackass thinking he was being funny locking a gate that shouldn't be locked. Had to go around it. Since I never listen to Radio anymore, I opted to put glass in without the Antenna option.

Antenna in glass is old school af

Which 4runner has that?

Ah...
Is that an AM antenna, the second antenna plug in the stock stereo?

*bashful* I left that one disconnected when I installed my Pioneer headunit :suspicious:
No, its a second FM antenna. The stock headunit uses an FM diversity antenna setup. Still not used on aftermarket stereos though...
