Interesting Engine oil reference chart from a GCC-Spec 2014 FJ (essentially a US FJ/4Runner minus EPA/CAFE/CARB crap + larger fuel tank) and recommended oil grades for different temp ranges. Should be relevant for the 4Runner too:

Once you get critically close to the 5K maintenance window (5k, 10k, 15k, etc), the display goes from the temporary 'maintenance required soon' which goes off on it's own to 'maintenance required' and will not go away until you hit the DISP button.

DRL will not turn on until you release the parking brake.
Found this out yesterday thought I messed something up wiring my grille lights. Guess I bumped the parking brake when I was tapping into the fuse panel under the dash.

If the manual for your market doesn't have a different version of the manual, what you see above mirrors what they say for Peurto Rico. Does yours not give you instructions for your market?

Read the "Engine oil selection section"
For this market it says:

■ Engine oil selection
 Except for Puerto Rico
“Toyota Genuine Motor Oil” is used in your Toyota vehicle. Use
Toyota approved “Toyota Genuine Motor Oil” or equivalent to satisfy
the following grade and viscosity.
Oil grade: ILSAC GF-5 multigrade engine oil
Recommended viscosity: SAE 0W-20
SAE 0W-20 is the best choice
for good fuel economy and
good starting in cold weather.
If SAE 0W-20 is not available,
SAE 5W-20 oil may be used.
However, it must be replaced
with SAE 0W-20 at the next oil
change.
Oil viscosity (0W-20 is explained here as an example):
• The 0W in 0W-20 indicates the characteristic of the oil which
allows cold startability. Oils with a lower value before the W allow
for easier starting of the engine in cold weather.
• The 20 in 0W-20 indicates the viscosity characteristic of the oil
when the oil is at high temperature. An oil with a higher viscosity
(one with a higher value) may be better suited if the vehicle is
operated at high speeds, or under extreme load conditions.

How to read oil container label:
The International Lubricant Specification Advisory Committee (ILSAC)
Certification Mark is added to some oil containers to help you select
the oil you should use.

 For Puerto Rico
“Toyota Genuine Motor Oil” is used in your Toyota vehicle. Use
Toyota approved “Toyota Genuine Motor Oil” or equivalent to satisfy
the following grade and viscosity.
Oil grade:
0W-20, 5W-20, 5W-30 and 10W-30:
API grade SL “Energy-Conserving”, SM “Energy-Conserving” or SN
“Resource-Conserving”; or ILSAC multigrade engine oil
15W-40:
API grade SL, SM or SN multigrade engine oil
Recommended viscosity (SAE):
If you use SAE 10W-30 or a
higher viscosity engine oil in
extremely low temperatures,
the engine may become difficult
to start, so SAE 0W-20, 5W-20
or 5W-30 engine oil is recommended.

If you look at in this section, Toyota actually recommends ILSAC GF-5 SAE 0W-20 for the full temperature range and says that 5W-20 may be used if necessary but should be replaced with 0W-20 at your next change.

In Peurto Rico Toyota suggests different viscosity for different temperature ranges, this seems to be the case due to them not specifying ILSAC GF-5 Grade oil (they allow API SL, SM, SN or ILSAC multigrade).

So use ILSAC GF-5 (which i think is the same as API SN) 0W-20 and you should be good for whatever temp.

To make sure you are using the current ILSAC oil look for a starburst certification mark that says "Americal Petroleum Institute Certified" around the ring and "For Gasoline Engines" in the middle. The other circle should say "API Service SN" at the top

This is pretty mundane, but to switch audio sources on the Entune head unit I had been hitting the physical Audio button, then the Source button in the upper right corner of the touch screen (which is a pretty small target when you are driving). I accidentally discovered that you can pull up the same source menu by just hitting the Audio button twice. :doh:

Nope, not on mine. The Mode button cycles you through the audio sources one at a time. I was talking about a way to pull up the main Source menu on the flat screen, where you can see the icons for all of the audio sources.

4. My dealer never told me I had remote start but to test it, quickly push lock 3 times then hold it down the 4th time till the lights blink and it will start after that. To go along with this, unlocking or locking the car will turn off the engine

I can't believe it... I just bought a 2011 last week from CarMax.. I'm sure they did not know this.

Just turn off the seat belt chime with Techstream.
