Things you did not know about your 4runner

Can you use this without your phone once you have it installed to your car? I wouldn't want to go over my data using this on a long trip.

I wouldn't think so as it needs a gps position from the phone. Also the Scout voice direction prompts did not mute the XM music I had playing on the headunit. They both were talking, haha. Pretty cheesy but hey it was free. I'm a Waze addict anyway.

Learned yesterday that when the truck is almost out of gas. As in warning light has been on for a while, and you turn the track back on, the AC will not turn on to save gas unless you turn it off and back on again.

I thought it was a glitch at first but after I filled up the problem disappeared. So thus my conclusion.

I "still" don't know what the little area behind the cup-holder is for. I even contacted the salesman, he ran a survey among the staff, and they had no ideas. Its in the component diagrams I see from the internet, but without any label to describe it. Thoughts?

A ball ppint pen and a 2xc123 flashlight fit there perfectly.

I have also used that area for a pair of cheap reading glasses (1.25x) for those occasions when dim light prevents reading smaller print.

I keep my sunglasses in the other spot on the dash near my garage door opener.

Anyone notice the clear plastic holders on the driver side sun visor? One of them has the instructions for how to shift to 4wd but the other one is empty. Perhaps it is a location for instructions for crawl control that I do not have?

Honestly don't use the terrain select, crawl, ATRAC, 4WD lo options a ton. I didn't want to forget how to engage or forget when to engage what. I made a little fold up pamphlet / cheat sheet to throw in the glove box. Want me to send it to you?

BTW - one slot is just empty if you don't have a locking diff. I fold up my registration and put it in the larger one, and fold up my insurance card in the smaller one.

I had a eureka moment this weekend, it perfectly holds dipping sauces for McDonalds nuggets. Has to be what they designed it for.

I was going to say, I used the one in my 2010 for fast food dipping sauce containers all the time.

If you use the bluetooth media player from your phone instead of entune, be aware the last thing you played on your phone will show the title on your 4Runner console.

This means whatever the last porn video you watched will have the title displayed for all to see when you turn your T4R on.
