Agree'd. I also question why we don't see it in the cars like the IS LCF, etc. I'd bet it's part of the licensing agreement with McLaren to not compete in sports cars. I suspect in the next gen it'll get KDSS and magnetorheological shocks. The ultra fast ones can adjust multiple times throughout one suspension stroke. That would easily solve the front dive problem, acceleration squat, and lots of other things. What they don't do as of now is make them with big volume oil chambers and long travel.
My fear is that the 4runner goes the way of the LR4 - trying to do too much and ending up not doing anything well. Now if Mr.T wanted to make a trail model of the highlander with the 8 speed instead of low range, stronger diffs, twin a-arm suspension at both ends, and crawl control, that would sell quite well IMO and probably leave room for the 4runner to go more hardcore offroad/utility direction.
