Thinking about selling 4th Gen for a 5th gen

As the post states, I'm giving serious thought about upgrading to the 5th gen. My only reason is, I'm bored with mine and been thinking of making some major chassis changes and going with a long travel setup front and rear. But then I got to thinking, if I'm going to do that, why not upgrade to something like the Trail Premium with the added Locker and other trail traction garb.
So I guess my question is, what are some of the pro's and cons along with the dos and don't see of the 5th gen.

We went from an 03 SR5 V8 4x4 to an 11 Limited 4x4.

If I had to do it all over again, I would have stuck with the 03. I miss it every time I drive the 11 (wife's car). The 03 felt like a sports car compared to the 11. I can't even keep track of how many times the V6 has to downshift on the freeway on a slight grade from Vegas to Phoenix... sometimes all the way down to 3rd. The V8 rarely had to downshift.

I traded a 2003 v8 Sport with 271,000 miles for a 2010 Limited with 138,000 miles and have to say I am loving it. No question the v8 has more torque and sounds better than the v6. But with all the additional features--heated leather seats, nav system, satellite, JBL sound (actually the '03 had this, but this one is better), better visibility, air bags covering every angle and about 2 mpg better--I'm good with it. Apparently I'm also one of the few XREAS fans on here as well since my '03 had it with no issues and the Limited has it as well.
Now if the v6 has the same kind of reliability as the v8 did, I will be feeling like a car buying genius! Bottom line--after driving the v6 for a week, I think you'll find you will be pleased with your purchase.

I traded in my 03 Limited 4WD V8 with 167,000 km for a 2011 Limited with 144,000 km on it.

While I also miss the V8 for its torque, I have grown to like the better fuel economy in the V6. Have been driving the 2011 for 5 months now and it feels very solid and comfortable. No regrets moving up a generation.

I'd keep the 4th gen. No payments. You're not paranoid about nicks and dings. You don't have to deal with haggling. You have plenty of spare cash for more mods or other toys.

I sold my '04 because it needed transfer case work, suspension bushings, a new dash, new speakers, and I was sick of the 4spd slush box, but for some reason I still miss it. The 4th gen is just more sporty feeling. Had mine not needed $3000 of work, I'd still be driving it.

You won't like the throttle response, or the perceived heft of the 5th gen compared to the 4th gen. It just feels more sluggish even though it's not. Entune nav will annoy you. The stock tires suck if you're going off-road. And you'll have payments.

I'll quit being negative nancy now. You'll love pretty much everything else about the 5th gen. If you've got the room in the budget, join the club!

i would wait till the 2018. rumor has it that they might bring a v8 or possibly a v6 supercharged. Again this is all speculation. I used to work for a Toyota Dealership and still have friends in the business.

pros: reliable, comfortable, lots of accessories to upgrade.

cons: sluggish going uphill on the freeway, mileage between 16.5 to 19 avg. mpg.
