Been scouring the forums for Spark Plug info. This is for my 2008 V6 plug change at 30k.

The oft recommended NGK LFR6T11 O'Reily part number 4904 is $10ea

However, another NGK iridium plug is LFR6AIX-11 O'Reily Part number 6616 and that is $7.50

The $10 one is the LAZERRRRRR Iridium so it can probably take out womp rats :flamethrwoer2:.

But other than that man I think I'm going for the $7.50 ones....

What say ye?

Damn your doing a plug swap early, I am about to change mine for the first time at 75k. I know I should have done them at 50k probably but 30k is early. I know it is recommended every 25k but why is that? I haven't done them in that short of intervals ever.

Damn your doing a plug swap early...

For some goofy emissions certification thing the V6 is spec'd with standard plugs (non-longlife design). Your V8 came with long-life Iridium plugs from the factory.

What's "early" for your rig is 'late' or 'right' (at least until we get the Iridiums in the V6).

Ahh, ok; I did not know this, I swear I learn something new every day on this site. Thanks for that info!

My V6 was purchased used at 36K and now at 40K I'm at a point where I'm ready to tackle the plug change.

Maybe the plugs were changed already at 30K? If I get into the project and pull out NGK's and Denso's that will indicate they are likely original. And in my opinion that is why they went with two mfrs plugs in one engine - to readily identify if plugs had every been changed.

And I don't know why the V6 did not have Iridiums in the 1st place like the V8's. Perhaps the V8 as a later addition to the engine lineup featured them as longer maintenance schedules as selling features were becoming the trend.

The V8 always came with Iridium plugs since its conception in '98.

The 4th gen was always offered with a V8.....

The V8 has a completely different ignition system.

I just turned 100k in my 2003. I don't think the plugs have been done. How do I know if they are needed, or is it a preventative measure?

Look on Ebay for the trash holder. I found a few odd parts that I needed as a good discount.

Thanks!

Your good until at least 100k.

I'm closing in on about 90K on my 04 Sport V8. The dealer wants something like $200 to change the plugs! I should probably do it myself, but I am not sure what plugs to get, or how hard it is to do. Can anyone give me any guidance?

Just replaced the plugs in my wifes 04 V8 Sport. Purchased the Denso iridium plugs specified in my owners manual from Parts Plus for $7.55 each. Not really a difficult job. Make sure you have a good selection of long and short extensions and the correct spark plug socket. If you carfully lift the clip at the bottom of the coil wire you can remove the pigtail before lifting the coil off of the plug. The left rear plug was the most difficult to replace and required two short extensions to remove and reinstall. I totally removed the air cleaner box to gain access to the right bank plugs which made it a breeze. Good luck.
