This Rattle is Driving me nuts. Any body else?

I have this Rattle in my Driver Door or it could be in the Pillar behind the Door. Maybe it's the set belt adjuster but I don't think so. Anyhow it's driving me nuts......

Does anyone have any ideas before I start pulling the panels?

I searched for post and found anything yet.

My truck rattles like nobodies business. It comes with the territory doing what I do to it so I just deal with it now :driving:

I also have the noise on all my four doors.i think it comes from the control panel cover.just press it and you will hear the noise.i started hearing this the week after i got the truck.i brought it to the dealer to see if they can atleast tighten it.but then they told me that they are tight enough.problem with 5th gen is its made out of alot of plastic.and the location of this control panel should not be attached on the inside door handle.thats why when you try closing the door from the inside you will hear this creaking noise.dealer also showed me brand new 4runners which have never been driven,same thing,door panel cover cover also make alot of noise.so i guess there is nothing we can do.

Thanks guy's I think I am just going to pull my panel and layer it with sound deading.

I think it's wiring that's vibrating against the metal skin of the door or a broken clip rattling. It doesn't rattle all the time but enough.

Thanks, I just clicked on his picture and I think I found the issue with the door.

I didn't have any rattles or noises, other than the usual incoming noise from the street, but, I wanted to get rid of as much noise as possible, so, I did a complete cover with dynamat; I hear nothing in the cabin now, even at high speeds there is very little noise. It added about 180lbs, but, the silence is was worth it.

I'm curious what you find.

My 80's door panels develop rattles over time. But I just pull the panels and tighten up the 20 or so screws and problem is solved for a year or so.

It was the rear passenger door. I worked on one door at a time over a couple of weeks. An what I believe it was was the switch panel. There are a few screws that hold the different plastics on the the door panel. So after tightening up the screws and applying Fat Mat 50 mill to all the doors. I was able to stop the rattling noise. So I am not quite sure what actually stopped the rattling.


Just a heads up, before I finished all the doors I when through a touch less car wash. There's powerful jets that hits the side of the cars in this wash. Extremely noisy! Until now! All the doors that had the Fat Mat installed on them; I couldn't tell the jet was actually hitting the doors. But the door that didn't have the Sound deading was extremely loud.

I will be applying Fat Mat through out the Vehicle now.

FTW! :trophy: Nachies nailed it! I too have had a tapping/squeaking/rattle that bugged the hell out of me because I could hear it in my left ear constantly. I thought it was from the pillar but after reading this thread I removed the driver side rear passenger door panel and there were several screws that needed to be tightened. I reattached the panel (what a PITA) and drove around for a while and the noise is gone. Thanks Nachies!
