in the Car And Driver september 09 issue, it states that the 4runner is getting the 4.6 v8 and 6-speed auto. itmentions nothing about a 4 cyl

How is 9.8 seconds 0-60 an "improvement" when the pre-2010 V8 4runners were doing 7.8 seconds 0-60?

I bought my 08 V6 Limited largely because of the V6. After 2 Suburbans and one YukonXL Denali 20-24mpg is sweet and this truck does everything the others did. Toyota didn't "dump" the V8 the current CAFE regulations passed by the Obama crew will eliminate the V8 engine almost completely.

The manual says 87 octane is recommended.
Interesting tidbit though. I read that HP output was 258 using 87 octane and torque was also down a few lb/ft, albeit on wikipedia's description of the 1GR-FE. Not sure if that's confirmed or anything, but interesting nonetheless.

I own a 2010 4Runner TE. 2000 miles on it. I also consider myself an inteligent man. Can anyone tell me where in the 5th gen owners manual is the maintainance schedule? I can not find it .............. bbbbaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa I took the small bus to school ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. LOL

ya know doesn't really say what gas to put in it or when to change first oil change... There is some talk of 10k miles for first oil changes because toyota changed it. They need to clarify.
Thats crazy ....... I'm ready to change my oil now. but what about tire rotation, filters, trans, 4x4, and all the other things that make our runners last long and strong. I want a printed schedule that goes by reccommended milage for all service items out to 100K miles.........

It's in a separate book labeled "Warranty&Maintenance Guide"......not in the owners manual.The Maintenance log is in there.
And ,yes, confirmed thru my service manager that the oil change interval has been changed to 10,000 miles for normal duty service.Call your dealership service MANAGER and ask him.
