Didn't know where to post this. Its not mine so... i'm sure a Mod will relocate it if they feel the need.

bagged 1991 4runner project

$2500


i have a 91 4runner on a bagged 2wd chassis. it's a project with a good start, but will need plenty of work to make a driver.

has mazda rx7 independent rear suspension so the rear seat stays 100% stock.
18" boyd stingray billet wheels. tires have about 500 miles on them.
2" belltech drop spindles.
frame is z'd to lay flat.
has wheel tubs in the front.
firewall was tubbed to keep a/c assembly in place.
clutch master cylinder has been flipped to the inside.
has 4 speed manual trans. also comes with 5 speed manual trans that will work better with rx7 rear.
s10 gas door added to left rear so stock can be shaved, fuel tank is relocated to rear of frame.
comes with everything for the air ride. valves/compressors/tank/swith box etc.
rear has metal tube work in place as well as wheel tubs, but still needs sheetmetal put down.
has access door in rear floor to service air ride.
driver side has bumper shaved using bedsides. comes with piece to shave the pass. side too.

needs:
rear sheetmetal
finish weld rear suspension in place
rear shocks placed
wiring harness. i attempted to splice it myself and not confident it will work. both the 4runner and truck harness are there.
dash and interior plastics need to be put back in after wiring.
tranny crossmember once 5 speed is in.

again it's a project that has a good start. i've just moved away from bagged cars/trucks. the plan was to have a bagged vehicle that i could tote the family around in. keeping the creature comforts was the priority.

Lowering it to that level not only looks ridiculous, but you completely eliminate all utility of the truck by doing that. You can't load anything, you basically can't drive it anywhere b/c you will scuff the concrete everywhere you go. Forget winter driving. What's the point???

Never saw the "coolness" of lowering a vehicle, but yeah, to each their own.

lmao... You're kidding, right? It has AIR SUSPENSION. It will raise up to stock height and I guarantee those bags have a much higher tow rating than the coils springs in your 4runner. Winter driving in that truck wouldn't be ANY different than winter driving in any other 2wd 4runner. Actually, it would probably be better, due to the lower center of gravity, less chance of a rollover.... Please, educate yourself before making comments like this.

There is an entire genre of people, much like lifted T4R owners who like to lower their trucks. Drag them on the ground etc.

This truck, and most trucks that "lay out" have... or would have air ride/ air bags allowing it to lift up/ not drag, unless the driver wanted to drag. Which they like to do on occasion, to throw sparks.

As far as bagged/ slammed trucks not being able to haul anything. If they are built to haul, they do so just fine.

I've never judged modified vehicles by how much I like it, I respect quality work and craftsmanship regardless of personal bias. From what I can see of the pics on a small cellphone screen it appears to quality work.

Low is pretty useless, unless you're racing.

OTOH, lifted with oversize tires is pretty useless too unless you're wheeling. I get a kick out of all the posers with lifted trucks that wouldn't hop a curb for fear of scratching their wheels but want to dogpile on the guys with lowered trucks for making them "useless".

Not as funny as the lifted as F*** 2wd trucks, or the avalanche I see on base here, lifted about 3 feet off the ground. All body lift and bracket/ blocks...

Doesn't upset me at all. A lot of work went into that. My first truck was a dropped 2wd Nissan. I've still always had a soft spot in my heart for clean lowered vehicles.

I remember reading the build thread on that Runner a long time ago, man it would suck to put that much work into something and not be able to finish it..

Not my cup of tea, but it looks nice. The chrome wheels and the excessive camber in the front are what really bother me more than the "slammed" look for some reason...

Still can appreciate the amount of work and effort that went into it.

Also is no one going to point out that a '91 is a second gen?
