those of you with rear temp controls

I do not have this option and i was wondering if its as simple as adding the center console that has this option

im sure someone has done this in the past if so can you point me inthe direction of the thread otherwise im gonna start collecting peices to this upgrade

You'll need the rear coolant lines that run under the truck, the rear heater core that goes under the passenger seat, the center console with controls (and power harness), and the cable that actuates the hot/cold valve on the core. Not a trivial thing, I would guess.

I have the 96-98 console with heater controls if you want it, its tan, like i know there is a lot of shit to get but this you can have if you want.

Remember it's heat only, there's no rear AC.

IMO you're opening a big can of worms and the tiny little bit of heat that the rear heater actually gives off will leave you wondering if you even did it right. I say 100% - don't bother!

ive always wanted AC in the rear of the 4runner too but from reading this... it seems like there is alot of money that has to be spent and alot of work to ty to make it work. So thats really lame if the rear only gets heat.

i cant believe its all that stuff for just heat. I may take you up on that D90. I was thinking of doing this since i was reading somewhere some said that warming up the rear of the truck takes forever and i was thinking of my 16 month old and how she would fair in the winter. Im gonna go to a Jyard and tear into one if i can find one that has the stuff

I dunno, it works pretty well for me. Rear heat is plentiful, and back seaters usually end up turning the fan to "lo" and taking the temp down a bit.

You know what might be a better idea? Not sure how it would work, but you could wire up one of those dashboard heaters (electric, fan-operated) under the passenger and possibly under the driver seat. Wire up a few switches to your dash, and you have a heat source for the rear seaters. A LOT less work than the OEM heater, and you make use of that space under the seats.
