Those thinking about a Daystar lift with XREAS - My thoughts and install experience

Just saw this. For some reason the springs were different on each side. passenger was super easy but the driver i had to take the ends off my compressor and spiral them through the spring to get them to fit.
Was weird but worked

I had to do the same thing on mine, made for a royal pain but I got it done. I did the 3/2 lift from toytec. It has the coil spacer and a pretty then top hat spacer. I did put both on their because that's what came with kit, but the front looks higher than the rear. Thinking of taking out that top hat spacer.

Did any of you guys happen to notice if the coils on your front xreas were different from driver to passenger side? My driver side has many more windings than the passenger side...

More weight on the driver side, trying to compensate for driver's side lean. You shouldn't be taking the coils out of the strut for Daystars though...

I didn't remove the spring from the strut, just noticed how crazy different they were wound up. Thanks for the reply!

Love how mine turned out

I could not be happier with how my lift turned out. I bought the exact Daystar kit as the link listed in the comments above and it was perfect. A local lift and off-road shop here in OKC had it knocked out in about two and a half hours. In my opinion, the ride is almost exactly the same; maybe a little stiffer than stock, but not enough to bother me. An affordable option for more clearance and overall appeal, I would 100% recommend this lift.

Something definitely worth considering is of course stock height, larger than stock tires, and roof rack + accessories. Fortunately for me I have a tall carport, but I am only renting this house so when it comes down to buying/building, I'll need to find something capable of protecting the goods!

Does anyone know of any spacer options (other than Daystar) that do not require rotation of the strut after install?

I would like to simply put a 1" spacer (2" lift) in the front only. I'm fine with the clearance/height of the back wheels and don't see the point of installing on all 4 wheels if I'm only looking to balance out the rake in front.

I found an aluminum 1" spacer on eBay that installed easily on my son's '04 SE5 but it did require rotation of the strut. I don't think that is an option on my '15 LE because of the XREAS lines attached to the strut.

I ended up trading in my '15 LE for a '18 TRD ORP. :bounce:

I'm still in the same boat though. I really liked what the 1" spacer did for my son's '04 SE5. I would look at installing that on my new rig but guess it would compromise my ToyotaCare and/or warranty.

I’m getting my lift and wheels/tires done at separate shops. Wheels won’t be in until Mid/late May.
I’m trying to decide if i want to wait, or just get the lift done for now.

I hope it still rides like a dream. That's the only thing that worries me on mine. I'll be installing it Sunday with the help of some friends.

Your 4R looks great btw, are those the stock size tires as well?

Yeah they were the stock tires! I live on a gravel road and it rode just about the same with the lift as it did without it...you'll like it I think!

IMO, it looks silly. I don't have a pic, because I wouldn't want evidence out there looking like that...haha jk. It's not THAT bad, but with the 245s, the LE's already look top heavy IMO.

I swapped on the Trail 17s with stock size K02s and it looked a lot better. But now with 285s it looks great

If you want to upsize, I'd go for it. I wasted a lot of money by upsizing in increments. :crybaby:

How much height did you add with the lift and the 285s? I only have 4.5" before I run out of space in my garage.
