Are shrockworks sliders ok as steps?

I was thinking of getting in on the shrockworks group buy and pickup some sliders.

My only concern is that my girlfriend is pretty short, and currently has to use the stock side steps to climb into the runner (post-OME lift).

For those with shrockworks sliders, do they stick out far enough to be used as a side step? Are there comparable sliders that would work better for climbing into the runner?

All thoughts appreciated!!

try checking out demello sliders, They are a hybrid step and slider

Edit: also, I don't think you can use the SW sliders as steps.

It seems like these are meant as steps and high quality rocker protection. When I first got my truck I planned on getting these when the time comes for sliders (after I lift it).

SW sliders are tucked in pretty tight. I can just get my toes in them to wash the roof of my truck, but they're not very good for a step.

Seems like they're not great steps, but they could work, especially with some grip tape.

I considered the demello sliders, but aren't those weld-on? I really want to stick with bolt-on.

how about 4x sliders they come un-welded and can be put at any angle so you can make them stick out how you want

I've seen those, but always thought they stuck out a little too far. I think I was hoping for as close and clean a look as possible, while still providing that small degree of step functionality.

Schrockworks makes great products but you could have some issues with lead time. Much of their issues were due to outsourcing work such as laser cutting. I believe they are currently doing that in house now. Call them up and lock them in to a date prior to dropping your money.

I went with Demello hybrid sliders. They sell them in both bolt-on and weld-on versions. Jason will also build them to your needs so if you want them to stick out 1" further then he can do that. I believe he can also weld on diamond plate if you want a solid surface. Also you have an option of going with a textured powder coat so you won't need the grip tape.

Woah... I LIKE those! Although by the time you add the bolt-on kit and even the non-textured powdercoat, they're even more expensive than the shrockworks.

The textured powdercoat option is nice, but I'm not sure if the whole thing is worth the cost difference over SW. Your thoughts?

ah shoot, you are right. :sad: Do they make any sliders like this for the 4runner? Because the other demello sliders don't seem to make a step thats any better than the SW sliders; or do they and I just can't see it well from the pictures?
