thnx for the pics dude... i think it looks too dark for me so i might try to do wat liny did and put a red stripe on the exterior part and paint the rest satin black. NOt too sure if i wanna do this bc i havent painted rims before

ya bak3rme ill prob be keeping my rims for a while...

Silverbullet i think u might have just made me change my mind since urs looks like the flat black which helps with it looking better and might be because there is more sunlight in ur pic.

Dang, im so torn on wat i should do now... For u guys that have painted ur rims, how hard do u think it was? this will be my frist attempt at this.

pretty simple. took them all off at the same time, taped them off, sanded them all down, used compressed air to blow off all the excess debris, primed, and painted it.

took me all of about one day, and i let them sit for a day just to be sure. and i used high head bbq paint for mine

I just bought the same exact $runner as you. I was thinking about painting my rims in the future. Personally I think black would be to much. a tungsten or graphite gray would be nice. On my 01 Tacoma i painted my american racing rims with the gray duplicolor wheel paint it looked awesome! I'll try and dig up a pic.

Here ya go!

ya i thought bout grey but since our 4runner is almost a grey but slightly off im not sure if itll be too much differentiation of grey or not.

I'm a fan of the black rims. If you do paint them, I'd say go dark - charcoal or black. I wouldn't like anything too close to Thundercloud.

And I don't want to hijack the thread, but dnbprofessor's truck looks sweet with the black around the hood scoop and on the door handles. Did you paint those yourself? I have some leftover wheel paint, but I've been too chicken to spray something on the body.

Jacob, what kind of paint did you use? and is it satin finish or high gloss? Looks great! Some folks hate on the chrome lug nuts but I like 'em.

ya im thinking something dark too but just gotta figure out wat color i wanna use bc my rims are just like dnb's... personally im not a fan of the black hood scoop and door handles but thats just my opinion.

Jacob: dude ur car looks like it had major rake-age. It looks like u lifted the back and not the front... Reminds me when i was trying to put my lift on and couldnt find someone to compress the front so i drove raked for a week.

Jacob... I did paint them myself. I just taped off the handles, sanded them, used an adhesion promoter and painted them with flat black. The hood scoop is removable, so that made it easy to paint. Anymore questions just let me know.

It's just the angle I took the picture and the driveway wasn't level. The lift is a Sonoran Steel 3.0. I thought I read that the back springs would settle a little, but it doesn't really look that bad. Here's a better picture from before I took the boards off.
