I heard a V8 Land Cruiser with the manifold tick today. I just laughed to myself.
Did not repro today... Try again tomorrow.
I have an 08 V8 4R and I have the same problem. Medium ticking sound first thing in the morning, cold start. Really hear it when I put the car in reverse to back out of the driveway first thing in the morning. It goes away pretty quickly.
If it is a cracked exhaust manifold, what are the long term implications if I don't address it? Sucks that my car is just out of warranty 38k. Wonder if I can press the dealer to do anything. :toilet3:
Ninefinger--another one for you.
i find it funny that $40k+ vehicles that aren't 10 yrs old have these major eng. flaws. I just sold an almost 20 yr old prelude (92) that didn't have 1/10 the undercarriage rust, ticks, noises etc that my runner has.
And this is a honda from the 'rust' years...
Its actually not a major engine flaw at all. It doesn't prevent you from driving - it doesnt even give a CEL.
actually, eng. was meant to be an abbreviation for 'engineering' flaw
Could be worse. It's one of, if not the most overbuilt car you can buy,
V8's a good choice...between manifolds and timing belt you're out 3k... j/k
elaborate please
