i find it funny that $40k+ vehicles that aren't 10 yrs old have these major eng. flaws. I just sold an almost 20 yr old prelude (92) that didn't have 1/10 the undercarriage rust, ticks, noises etc that my runner has.
And this is a honda from the 'rust' years...

If it is a manifold I would guess you should hear it every morning.. unless the temperature is fluctuating a lot.. like 30 digress deference form one morning to another..

This is the same as mine, pretty much the exact same description. My question is, why is it so much more noticeable when shifting into reverse? Is it the addition of the torque to the drive line causing everything to shift a slight amount or what? That is the part that puzzles me.

I have an 08 V8 4R and I have the same problem. Medium ticking sound first thing in the morning, cold start. Really hear it when I put the car in reverse to back out of the driveway first thing in the morning. It goes away pretty quickly.

If it is a cracked exhaust manifold, what are the long term implications if I don't address it? Sucks that my car is just out of warranty 38k. Wonder if I can press the dealer to do anything. :toilet3:

Its actually not a major engine flaw at all. It doesn't prevent you from driving - it doesnt even give a CEL.

Could be worse. It's one of, if not the most overbuilt car you can buy,
