I damaged one of my tie rod end bushings while installing my lift. One set of instructions said to remove the tie rod ends (which ended up being unnecessary) so after smacking it with a hammer, I slid a screw driver in there to see if there was any separation in the joint. Even though I felt like I was being careful, the bushing excreted a decent amount of grease/lube (see photo).
There is no play in the tie rod end, so other than the leaking grease it is fine. Here is my question... Is the bushing the type where you shoot grease in there with a grease gun and I just so happened to lift it up and the grease leaked out, or is it a sealed bushing that I have now ruined? I'm getting an alignment on Saturday, so if the bushing/tie rod end needs to be replaced, then I need to do it before hand or have them do it while the car is on the rack for alignment. Thoughts?
