Ok so as the title says I am going to be regearing and getting new tires this Summer (probably late summer actually). I have been tossing around some idead in my head and figured I'd get some of your opinions.

I know for sure I am going with BFG KM2s. I just don't know what size I should get. I know that 33s would fit just fine (considering I have LC coils, BJ spacers and a little torsion crank) but I was thinking 35s would be a whole lot more BA. I realize I will have to hammer out some of my inner fender, I'm not afraid to do that, although I already hammered my pinch weld. Any other major issues I'd run into throwing 35s under it? My wheels have not a lot of offset so my current 31s even sick out fast my fenders.

So long story short, should I go with 33s (4.88 gearing) or 35s (5.29 gearing)?

I am currently a little higher in the front but this pic gives decent perspective.

This is mine compared to another 2nd gen running a 2" body lift.

I have a skyjacker 4inch suspension lift and 35s fit perfectly, if I was even a half inch lower I would have went with 33s.

*not a fan of skinny tires, but that's just my preference

I have 35" BFG KM2 with a 2-3" Toytec/OME lift. No torsion crank.

The good:

These beasts ride over anything! Clearance! Clearance!! Clearance!!!

They look Bad A$$!!!

They have superb grip in loose dirt, gravel and sand at 10-15 PSI.

The Bad:

Mine rub at full turn, but if you have enough backspace in your rims, you may not have an issue.

My poor little 3.0 and 4.56 gears don't like me on the highway. Off road at low speeds and low gearing when necessary there is no stopping the combo.

I have had to replace one each CV axle, idler arm and pitman arm in the 6 months I have had them.

Overall, I am more than happy with the 35x12.5. If I had it to do again, I might have gone 35x10.5 due to the fact that they would be easier to turn and less stress on my suspension parts.

I did have 33x12.5 KM's before this. I was also more than happy with them.

No, I just said it doesn't like35's at highway speeds. If I ever get around to re-gearing that wont even be an issue.

What sort of modifications did you do to your inner fender? Just the BFH Technique?
If its only minimum rub I'll probably get the 35s. I mean 33s are probably the most economical, but 35s would look BA. Plus when you air down you are that much lower to the ground.

Inside the wells, I just hammered down the pinch welds. I also cut about 3 inches off the fenders all the way around the wheel wells. I have some fender flares I will be putting on to cover the rough edges.

If you want to take a drive north sometime, stop by my place and I'll put on a spare set of 35/12.5R15 MTR's. you can drive around a little and see what you think about them and check out clearence issues.

IFS? I'd stick to 33's. Also, since 5.29 isn't a stock ratio, regearing would cost money. Do people put 5.29s in ifs?

I think I have a buddy who has a chevy just sitting on some 35s. If that falls through I might take you up on that! Thanks!

I know that re-gearing will cost money. My buddy will assemble my diffs for beer :wink2:. I have all new bearing and whatnot, just need pair of ring and pinions. 5.29 seems to be more popular than 4.88 in ifs rigs it seems, maybe it's just me.

I love my skinny 33s and 5.29's.. then again, I have an auto and live at 7 thousand feet. The overdrive drops the rpm's back down to around 2k on the highway.. so it's not a gas hog either.. very happy best mod I've done.

After thinking about it quite a bit, I think I might go with the skinnies. I want room for articulation and turning. There are some tight areas up here in the PNW.
