Time to rip out my crap JBL system !

Any good non navi/dvd head units, plus component speakers, amps and sub combos from members who've had great experiences are welcomed. I know of a great stereo shop that can install it so all I'm looking for are some good recommendations on specific equipment.

p.s. I'm hoping to utilize the center speaker and the rear tweeters in the pillars as well. What's the best way to replicate the 10 speaker JBL setup in an aftermarket system ?

Since I'll be using a friend's Pioneer DVD/TVTuner deck and all installation is being done free of charge , all I'll need are a good set of speakers, an amp, sub, sub amp, Sirius tuner, iPod tuner, a PAC steering wheel control module, maybe some dynomat. Some good recommendations from people who have done this, and I'll be done. $1000, maybe $1500 tops (everything at cost). Hardly a arm and a leg. Life's good when you're hooked up.

Speakers - You definitely want components. Go and listen to as many as you can before you buy.

Subs - Make sure the box is built to the sub's specs.

Amps - Make sure you stick w/ a reputable company's product that puts out its rated RMS power.

If you really want to keep the center channel and rear tweeters, then you can. But, strictly from an SQ perspective, you would be better off keeping the sound stage in the front of the car with only the components playing. If you keep some stockers in, the system will not be timbre-matched, and it may become difficult to balance the sound between amped and non-amped speakers. Again, this is just a suggestion and not all will agree.

Dynomat can greatly improve the sound of your costly system - it can eliminate all or some vibration,road noise, etc. Definitely look into it. I actually recommend RAAMmat (http://www.raamaudio.com/) as a cheaper and arguably better alternative to Dynamat. That said, both will get the job done.

i reccomend focal components , if u dont mind the price that is kuss they will cost an arm and leg, like 800-1000 a pair with install for some k2p series, but they are the best, u can go with jl audio too the xr and zr models, but i get focal since they top of the line. u can use jl audio amps for the speakers. focal and jl audio is my top choice in audio

Nice thanks. The deck I'll be using has an external center speaker. I might utlilize that, although it is kind of an eyesore. It looked good on a Yukon Denali dash, but I think the 4Runner's smaller dash will make it seem that much bigger.

People are saying 6.5s in the front are better than the 6x9s. I'm hoping the tweeters in the front will fit in the stock location. i'm not sure if the rear tweeters will fit inside the rear pillars.
