Tint

@mason
Yea I did get mine done at SOG. Like you I am getting used to the tint. In some angles it looks great. I can live with it. I had a discussion with the owner of SOG and he mentioned how that tint matches the Touareg the most. He told me this as an example of how much tints vary from factory tint but the VW factory tint matches that Llumar the best. It seems to me though that they don't order specific tints for various jobs, as you probably saw they just have 5 - 6 rolls of tint that they pull from, each one being a different percentage. I guess they just use Llumar, probably because they can give a warranty for it.
But I too wasn't going to go darker than 35% for legal reasons.
good luck with your inspection.

Here mine. I think it matches the factory tint fairly well, and I havent really noticed any "greenishness".

Here are my freshly tinted windows. I see not too many are posting brands and percents with their pics. Hopefully this helps people. Had the driver and passenger fronts done with 3M CS 20% and the Sunroof with 35% Huper Optik. The fronts are a tad darker as in some of the above pics, but certainly not enough to bother me. All in all I think it came out great, color/shade look right. The fronts still look foggy/hazy, the tint is only about an hour old and needs to dry.

Taken with iPhone, will try to get better pics from all angles this weekend.

I do not know what the back windows percentage is, 20% seems familiar. I got 35% on the fronts because I also don't want to go too illegal.

In your picture, is that really 35%? It seems far too light to be 35. Remember that the percentage is the amount of light that is let through. So a 35% tint only lets through 35% of the light, and a 65% tint lets through 65% of the light. Lower numbers are darker.

Just wanted to point this out in case anyone goes to buy tint and orders the opposite of what they want. :)

I believe it is. That is what they told me. It was the next option up from 20% to avoid police attention. I will upload other pics. Sometimes it looks dark.

I think it's just the light coming through the windshield (and moonroof). I have 35% tint on my front windows and depending on the direction of light they can look quite different.
