Tire dealer and pressure monitors ??

Im going to get some new tires put on my 13 TE.
Im going with Cooper AT3's in a LT 265/70/17 "C" rated.

The tire dealer tells me it will trigger my sensors because of the difference in pressure. How do you guys get around that ?

I just got Cooper 285/70/17 ATP's (discount tire exclusive, like the tread better) and they just added 5 psi.

They are joking right? Your TPMS will go to like 74 psi before triggering. If you read the manual you would find that tidbit of info so the tire guys are wrong. Good choice on the tires. I did a review on those same tires awhile back so search "AT Tires" and you will find it. The worst thing they might have to do is a TPMS rebuild kit and that is nothing. They should not even have to do that if you are not swapping wheels. You have nothing to worry about Falls.

If that's what he said, it's complete nonsense.

It's possible he might have been trying to convey the idea that the sensor calibration won't be technically correct (should trigger at a higher threshold) for the switch to the LT tire compared to the calibration based on the factory load reserve of the stock P-metric tire.

Regulations now have auto companies adjusting the TPMS calibration for their minority trims that come with LT tires to be different from the ones (vast majority) that come with P-metric. Perhaps tire dealers are starting to feel the effect of the regulations kicking in, too.
