Don't quote me - but I believe the PSI warning range can be adjusted via Techstream (at the dealer).
?? You sure on that Philsey? I thought it accepted 5... one in the spare. I have not yet rotated in my spare and left the "new" spare at home.. but i seem to recall having that conversation when I got my TRD rims.

There is in mine.. I had one added (for free I might add) when I got my tires mounted on the TRD's. Now I'm curious if Discount Tire has to reset the TMPS ID's in the ECU each time they rotate my tires....??....
Anyone with techstream that can confirm the available TMPS ID slots in the ECU? Not saying Philsey is wrong, but curious what the actual answer is since my Discount Tire crew hasn't BS'ed me to date as far as I know.

- Receiver (sensor) for TMPS is on hub. Spare is nowhere close enough for the signal to be picked up by hub mounted sensor.
- 5 ID's are programmed, one being the spare.
- When wheel is rotated to include "spare", the 5th sensor replaces one of the 1 through 4 sensors, for only 4 readable signals.
- "Spare" (now being "wheel") is monitored with the other wheels.
I.E. this means your "spare" could be flat and you wouldn't know it from the idiot light int he dash until you mount it on a hub as a "wheel".
For all intents and purposes, this sounds like a workable system. I'll let you know next time my tires get rotated and I include the spare if my light is on... I'll leave the who-gets-to-apologize-to-whom gladly open till then. :eyebrows: :wave:

No switch to disable the light.
I have 4 winter tires mounted on another set of rims without TPMS sensors, light comes on after certain kilometers driven. However, as soon as I park my truck close to the garage, lights turn off as it picks up the reading from the original tires/wheel with TPMS.

My OEM wheels and tires with the tpms are stored under my deck in the back yard, the idiot light is reset each time I park in the driveway. Distance between the tpms and where I park is about 30 feet. Just saying

Interesting.... but the only thing that changes to my musing about what might be is that you are not clear which ones of the 5 TMPS sensors within reach are being used to determine the on/off status of the light. Could either be the top 4 slots in the ECU (but then why have 5 available), or there is some signal collision management going on (i.e grab the sensor with the shortest response or strongest signal (in order to determine which one is closer to the sensor).
In case of the latter, you could still have a 5th sensor in the spare that would be functional when mounted as a wheel.

If you had bothered to SEARCH, as I suggested, you would have learned (excerpting from several posts by [MENTION=8206]harper7[/MENTION] ) that:
-After complaints from customers re low spare pressure triggering the tpms, Toyota ECUs only monitor FOUR tpms slots.
-Doesn't matter which four, just four. There may be nine slots, only four are monitored. Four, as programmed by the Techstream.
And, speaking from exactly the same experience as [MENTION=76166]Qjake[/MENTION] - in the winter my oem wheels w/ tpms' also sit 20 feet from my truck, and reset my light every time I park.

Or you won't be open minded to the fact that the system as I described it is, at the very least, a technical possibility within the parameters of what has been described so far. (i.e. 5 TMPS slots in the ECU, but reading possible beyond the distance of the hub to wheel sensors.)
So unless you have access to the code-base for the ECU and can post the code snippet that excludes the 5th slot from the processing logic, I'll keep my open mind until I either rotate my tires, or someone else with 5 TMPS sensors has completed that experiment.

4 slots re monitored, but your quote DOES NOT state what the logic is to determine those 4. So it could be:
1,2,3,4
2,3,4,5
3,4,5,1
4,5,2,1
So I refer you kindly back to my statement about either ECU code regarding slot limitation or sensor ID detection.
