Hey guys, I'm in need of some new tires and was wondering if the tires I want to get will fit into my stock wheels. Currently I have P265/70/R16 good year wrangler silent armor. I want to get 285/75/R16 BFG KM2's, I'm also getting a 3" suspension lift. Will the tires fit on the stock wheels if I try to have them mounted? Or do I need 285/70/R16? I'm looking for 33"s in addition...

Those tires should fit the rim fine (depending on what rims you have), you may do some searching and make sure that you won't have any fender rubbing anywhere else though. Just look at other peoples builds, find something you like, take some notes on their setup, then go from there. I'm running a 265/75R16 tire with a 2" lift now and I love it for an on and off road setup. I'm kinda partial to a more narrow tire myself (if they're available in the size I want), I don't see a big benefit to a wide tire unless I'm driving in sand. I still have some power to accelerate fairly well, not sure if that would be the case if I went to a bigger tire without re-gearing. Something to think about. Depends on which stock wheel you have. Measure the width of your wheel, then check out the manufacturer's website to see what wheel widths the tire will fit. Keep in mind that if you stuff a wider tire on that wheel, even if it fits it might look kinda puffy, which some people like, but is a look i don't care for.

This summer I stepped up from 265/75/16 to 285/75/16. I have a 3 in lift including after market upper control arms. I have the factory 5 spoke wheel and everything fits just fine. My only concern is the spacing on the uca it is close to the tire. I believe most run spacers to clear the 285 tire but I decided to install after market uca's.

Alright, I found out that my stock wheels are 7 inches wide, so i think im going to go with 255/85R16, but this tire is only 10 inches wide... could i fit a 285/75R16 tire (which is listed as being able to fit on a 7.5-9 inch rim)? Does a wider tire mean better traction off-road?
