Regarding the plethora or superfluity if you will, of suspension/lift/tire
information - give it meticulous consideration before buying parts.
Read, read and read some more. It does get costly. And your gas gauge will plunge downward like a wall street banking executive out of a Manhattan
skyscraper window in a recession.

At times I didn't quite know for sure about a particular thing even after reading the threads on lift/suspension and I'd ask someone here well versed on the subject via PM and never once have these guys failed to guide me through it.
 
FWIW ... Wheel spacers might reduce the risk of rubbing the UCA and rubbing the frame at full turn but it wont help with not rubbing the pinch weld.. In fact it might make it even worse.

You don't NEED all those parts that Bijan listed for your rig to function on a daily bases but they are suggested when lifting your 4Runner. One of the biggest things you'll want after a lift and larger tires is an alignment.

Take the time and do your research. Read through the "sticky" threads. There is a TON of information regarding this very same topic. You're not the only ̶1̶5̶ 16 year old to ask these questions and you wont be the last.

Although you've posted a lot of the same questions, at least you're trying to learn. It's a lot more than most kids our age. (17) 33s will fit with a 3 inch lift, but you may run uca and/or the frame when you turn all the way left or right. No wheel spacers aren't bad for your ball joints, but if you haven't replaced them then you need to.

Yeah like I read this one thread they said that 2001 4runnera ball joints were recalled and I want to see if mine needs it when I get hone and hopefully it is so I can get them replaced for free

Yeah I asked a couple of my friends if I would need all that today they said I didn't but yeah I'll definitely look into those threads ..thanks
 
If this thing is going to be mainly road you could get away with just the 3" lift.

You will need some wheel spacers to clear UCA with the 285's.

Have caster pushed forward as far as you can when getting aligned, just tell the tech. This will help keep you from rubbing the pinchweld.

You can get away with bending your rear brake line down. Loosen rear emergency brake line at bracket to get some slack if its tightens up from the lift.

And some OEM ball joints to be safe.
 
You won't need spacers to clear the ucas in all situations. With my stock sport wheels I had about an inch of clearance

FWIW, I fit 33x12.50s on my 01 without a lift, but I rub the pinch weld like hell.
 
I ran 285's with my SS 1.2 lift (about 3") and didn't have any issues whatsoever. Maybe a hint of rubbing when fully flexed out, which to me, is just perfect--it means you are getting the most out of your tire/suspension combo.

Just do it. Don't worry about the power loss, you're a kid and you don't need a fast car anyway.

Just a word of advice, don't listed to your friends about cars at 16. If they're anything like my friends and the people I went to school with at 16, they're idiots...

This is HIS first thread in which he's asked this question, unless you'd like to link me to another thread started by him where he asks this. He's trying to find out all he can before he drops $800 on a set of tires at 16 years old. Relax and give him a break. And what does his age have to do with a anything?

His age has nothing to do with it, except that he references it in, what seems like, half of his posts. We get it, you're 16, that doesn't it exempt you from using the search function just like everybody else. You don't see me telling everyone how I'm 95 all the time ...
