Tire question?

Hey guys,

This question was asked earlier, but I didn't think that it would get any attention in that thread.

Someone asked if 285/60/17 would fit our trucks (4th gen). Would there be serious rubbing action or is the fender well area modifyable to allow these tires? Thanks for the help. I have checked other posts, but thre is not really a clear question for what I am asking.

Hey, thanks for the help. Take care,

Joseph

The width of the proposed tire is a lot and you'd probably get more rub on the sidewalls. The 285/65/17 would just be .1 inches shorter than the stock tire so you wouldn't get much rub on the top.

Not too sure it'll even fit as the width of the tire may prevent the wheel from being mounted in the wheel well. I guess if you change the offset of the wheel and push it further out, it may fit.

okay, you said that the 285/65 would be shorter than the 285/60 in height. How? I thought that the 65 was taller than the 60?

Anyway, does anyone know what the width on the sport wheels is? I think I remember seeing 7.5.

Thanks for the help. I am going for the widest wheel possible. I want to get the Terra Grapplers by Nitto cuz of the looks. But, I think that 275 is the widest width possible.

Here is another question, what is a good height. 65? 70?

Thanks for the help guys. I figure I am not the only one wondering this, so I thought that I would pipe up. Take care,

Joseph

THanks a bunch for the help man!!

I have another question though. I am thinking that I might go with a 275/70 tire. I was looking around and found the Wrangler AT/S or the Wrangler MT/R. Do you know anything about the MT/R? I am wondering if that tire is going to be a pain in the butt. I am guessing that a lot of guys here have the AT/S. I remember seeing a lot of posts about that tire.

Anyway, I really appreciate your help. I went 4-wheelin yesterday and today and really saw that the 4th gen is lacking clearance and needs more tire. So, I want to get it to a point of which I can enjoy some medium wheelin.

Anyway, thanks for your help.
