tire size?

Quick question:
I have a 1992 4runner and Im wanting to put 16 inch aftermarket wheels on it; what's the biggest tire size i can go without having any rubbing or issues? there's no lift, wheel spacers, anything, its all stock. I've heard that 265/65 is the biggest you can go, but i just want to make sure (and if so is that a little bigger than 32x11.5's)?. Im also wanting to get 1-2" spacers if possible, but where would i find a good set? Im not 100% sure Im going to invest in these wheels and what not, i may just save up more for a suspension lift and stick with putting some 33x10.5's on the stock wheels. Id just like some recommendations from people who know from experience which would be the better road to go down. any suggestions/advice is much appreciated!!

I'd go with 33/10.5 or 265/75. They will look way better and shouldn't rub too much if you do the pinch weld mod. :wink2:

here is the way i purchased my 92 sr5 "4wd" 33x 12.50 15's if you go with the 10.50 width tires you wont have the issue i have... but be warned that you will lose nearly all of your get up and go with the 33's on the street and regearing the front and rear axles to 4.88's would be beneficial

when the antenna only Pull out one section should be at 30 meters - 50 meters working properly. All antennas should be pulled out at about 500 meters work properly.

Pinch weld? And the 33's with no lift won't take up all my extra space and look ridiculous? i mean i don't think they would, i seem to have quite a bit of space on the front with the 31's, and if i have a space issue in the rear i can just get 1" coil spring spacers

At the back of ur front wheelwells there is a pinch weld. Pull back the plastic liner and pound it flat with a BFH. The 33s will definitely fill up the wheelwells but won't look stupid. You do have quite a bit of space with 31s. You'll just have a little less.

Being a 2nd Gen, it may have 4.88s already, mine does... need to check the codes with help of this Gear Ratios and Diff Chart

On the topic of 33x10.50s, on the stock 15" rim, tire selection is extremely limited. Only a few companies making that size. Good luck let us know what you find.

^Its true theres not much selection when it comes to 33/10.5s. BFG has a few, General has one, and Toyo also. Interco has a bunch. As for gearing, check ur stock gearing. You may have 4.88s. I got mine from a '93. IIRC the code is G144

well all be g144 8" 4.875 4 pinion open diff that saves me money.... (guess i should have checked my gearing prior to assuming i needed different diff gears)

with the right offset rims they seem to clear i was not the one who installed them and am having a **** of a time finding 31's in my price range... but at least i know the issues i am having with the truck are soly related to loss of power hahahaha compression check here we come
